i must be doing SOMETHING wrong

Joey,

I thought we got passed this crap !

cuemakers evolve.... when they stop, they die out !

I dont mean to be so crass but you really stroke me the wrong way.....

I make mistakes and when I do I account for them... I do not need you to critique me !

We are both cuemakers... you have your techniques and I have mine.... I respect you, why can't you extend the same to me ?

I'll let everyone else chime in Eddie.

no sir again, no clear on cue yet. showed up before clearcoat. after i sealed with epoxy it looked worse yet. that's when i posted this thread. it's all good now. problem fixed. exact same procedure as the first time. i still believe, it was just some bleed from that particular ring for whatever reason, i don't know. as i mentioned above somewhere, i usually sand and wipe rings down with thinner. i very well could have got sidetracked or something, i can't remember with 100% certainty, that i did that on that set of rings.

So I was right? It was the dust? The picture looks like roll over to me, but that's probably just because the lighting is kind of dark and hard for me to see, but the way you explained the bleeding in the PM, well, that sounded Like sanding dust that wasn't cleaned off well, and why I mentioned that. It can mix with the epoxy and create veins of dark coming off the rings, and It's Not very clean looking. That's something I have done Myself in the past, and what made me think of It. It can really soak into maple.

I seal the surface of the lighter colors before working the rings in, but when glueing the rings on, It can still pick up some bleed under there if the rings don't get wiped down with some kind of cleaner. I usually clean Mine twice. I usually make them up a while before going into the cue, but clean them after first sanding/lapping them, then before I go into the cue I lap them again if need be, but whether I do that or not they still get cleaned again before glueing them in, just to make sure all the oils from handling them are removed. That may be overkill, although I'm not only thinking of the dust, but My glue bond as well. I get side tracked all the time. It happens. Glad to hear you figured It out, and solved the problem.

Greg

i had a dream once

dreamt i forgot to epoxy anything together
entire cue was completed
so, i soaked it in a 55 gallon drum of superglue for a couple days
presto, cue all together and finish too :D :D :D :D :D :) :) :)

hope it was a dream, not a premonition

Your a dick ! plain and simple..... I have had enough of your fragile egos and delicate reputations.....

We are cuemakers not politicans and just to clarify this for some of you WE WILL NEVER BE CELEBRITIES ! so get over yourselves !!!

If I pissed of Dennis then he would have called by now ! the friggin glue isn't going to make a damn bit of difference if the customer is happy with the result unless he/she specifically states no super glue and that is the bottom line !

I consider dennis a friend in the business and would not intentionally do anything to harm his reputation as a matter of fact isn't this how it all began by me justifying Dennis getting 6000k for a cue ????

Look I am who I am and I am not in competition with any other cuemaker becasue what I offer is 100% true custom work ! I respect Searing and Omen and I don't think discussing what glue he uses what glues is deteremental to this issue !

You and your buddies are not going to chase me off of here because I don't conform to your likes and approval, but I don't go looking for trouble either I'm just very open with my feelings and infromation and it is all to be taking in general, "NOT PERSONAL" .....

This is another examplre of how one sentence is extracted from several paragraphs and completely taken out of it's entire context !

Sincerely, Eddie Wheat 321-631-1827

Hey you may be on to something, shave the cat, sprinkle the fur over the sealer then seal over It. Wallllaaa new design. Just make sure to put "no animals were harmed in the making of this cue" when advertised.:p Don't want the animal right activists having a field day with it.:p

Seriously I could see that happening, anytime I've had cats they always followed me around, and would jump up on things to get closer and get attention.

If that cat jumped up on My bench, first there would be a severe avalanche, then a mushroon cloud of dust flying around and settling into the sealer LOL. That's if the cat didn't get close enough to actually stick to the cue.

Aaaaah! All you cat lovers deserve what you get. Aren't you all aware that God created bags and rivers just for cats?

So ya say you like cats huh:p

To be honest It's been a while since I've had a cat, and even then, the last couple of times I was suckered into It by a female. I don't miss the fur or the fleas one bit, but It's been hard holding out on My little girl. I wouldn't say I'm a cat lover, but Ya wouldn't catch Me tying a can and string to their tale either. They always seem to take to Me though, and I know My daughter will drive the cats nuts, and It will end hiding out with Me for protection:D . I guess I just like them better when they belong to someone else.:D

i wouldn't ever use super glue on a ferrule, but i don't see the difficulty in putting one on before the glue sets.

My bad Dennis,

I learned it from Pete and since he gets alot of his technique from you then I assumed it was Searing approved !!!
That's what I get from assuming !
My appologies........
- Eddie Wheat

Apology accepted.

LOL,

Thought I was on to something when I first used Loctite jel to glue my un-threaded ferrule. It's played very nice and my client was very happy with the hit. I didn't know that loctite gel was the nuts for tips until I read it here.

some questions: Will the loctite gel be able maintain it consistency over time? How much of an impact does the ferrule has on playability?

Regards,
Duc.

that's the great thing about az
if it's a mistake i make or just something strange that happens like this case, i'm happy someone else can benefit in some way, other than the hard way :D
until you get into it, hands on that is, that's when you REALLY learn
reading about it and doing are two different animals for sure
but, all the little tips and advice picked up on az surely can't hurt

Not at all.
I always like the credo, "Making mistakes is ok. Making the same ones over and over again is not."
You ever try sticky rice on tips? Don't.
