first i want to say that I am a F16 Maintainer for Lockheed for my day job and we use this stuff on the canopy to maintain a polished canopy. Anyways i thought i would try some on the Aramith Pros... Wow what a difference!!!! Works 10 times better than Aramith cleaner, and the finished results last alot longer in my opinion. i took some of this to demo on some used balls at the pool hall and make a couple of balls look brand new. anyways here is the stuff

and is available here. I do not work for this company and im not trying to advertise for them. Im just sharing what i found out over the weekend by trying something new.

you work for lockheed? Which one?

Flight test at Edwards AFB, and yes it is an abrasive, so is any other type of polish including the Aramith stuff. But when i use the micro stuff, the balls are squeeky clean and stay that way. When i use the aramith i get little white dots on the where the balls impact each other. I probally could have used Mequiars Professional Dual Action Polish and achieved the same results but it has alot more cutting action that i dont want. This is what is used to keep F16 Canopies polished up and gets rid of those spiderweb lines. Anyways just was passing some good cleaning and polishing compound that just makes the colors shine.

I have a small bottle of that and it works great. I like to use Brillianize. It's a lot like the Micro Polish you show. It's used for plexiglass, plastic, glass etc. www.brillianize.com

All polishes have abrasives. They have to. Polishing means leveling. An abrasive is needed to bring the surface closer to level and that is done by removing anything that has built up and by removing material and conforming the surface to any scratches.

Thanks for the tips for pool ball cleaner/polish. I built a home made ball cleaner from ideas I found here on the forum and I haven't purchased anything specifically designed to clean pool balls. I've been using some Mother's liquid carnuba car wax which I already had, but i'm going to order one of the products mentioned in this thread.

If you wear glasses this type of polish might remove or reduce scratches. Anyone try it as a scratch reducer / remover?

Is this what causes those little white dots?? I have a ballstar and been using the ballstar cleaner or Aramith and I ALWAYS get those white dots. Drives me nuts. So you are saying, after using this product, no more white dots??

I found that you can, to some extent, get rid of the white dots by letting the balls sit overnight. I found that if I polish when I am done playing pool and then leave them on a terry cloth towel overnight that there are fewer white spots.

The other thing on that works is to let them sit for about a hour or so. This too reduces the spots. Probably has something to do with letting the polish throughly dry.

I e-mailed them to ask about this and here is the reply I got:

The only product that can be used for eye glasses is our cotton dry
wipes #3FLO http://www.sisweb.com/search.htm\?query=3FLO

All other abrasive micro mesh sheets will only scratch the glass
surface. Do not use any abrasive material for sun glasses. They have a
protective coating that will be removed.

What I find unusual, I never see those white spots on balls at the pool halls. I don't know exactly what cleaner they use though.

I have a BallStar too and I use their cleaner. I have never seen the white dots. I use Aramith super pro balls. Maybe cheap balls get the white dots?

I get the white dots on Super Pro and on Centennials if I don't wait. Perhaps it is too much cleaner. Don't know, just a guess.

I think that Big John must clean his pool balls with a rock tumbler.

I'm an outta work A&P (airframe & powerplant mech). Just to let all know, pretty much ANY product certified by the FAA or military for use on aircraft windscreens WILL work great on 1) pool balls 2) pool shafts 3) eyeglasses 4) car windows, PROVIDED the product is used properly. If you wish to go really old school aviation, use "TOOTHPASTE". The "micro- mesh" screens used for shafts are a product used in aviation to remove scratches and swirls in wind screens by the way.

EDIT- note that some cleaning products Could damage a cue shaft if it contains petroleum distalates or if the shaft is unsealed.
