Idea for expanded Buy/Sell forums

I just logged into the Wanted/For Sale forum after not checking it for 2 days. Just to get through the last 18 hours of listings required me to go through 5 pages. There are so many listings in this forum that sellers routinely bump their listings many times, creating annoyances for many who see the same listing many times due to bumping. If you're a serious browser or seller, it's difficult to really get what you need from this forum.

Is it time to ask the Moderators to create a Wanted/For sale category, with muliple forums that would segregate listings into meaningful groups that might reduce the "gone in sixty seconds" problem that the current structure creates? Here's one potential scheme for sub-dividing these listings into their own forums:

Want to Buy
Want to Sell cues, 0-$500
Want to Sell cues, $500 - $1000
Want to Sell cues, >$1000
Want to Sell pool accessories
Want to trade

Yes I know this would create more forums to browse, but listings would stay current for much longer and let potential buyers zero in on what they're interested in a little easier.

Thoughts?

I think its a great idea too. Because I know what i can and can't afford and can zero right in on my price range. My wife would love that.lol

However, what happens if the seller lowers the price and now the cue shifts ranges? How would you monitor that? Would you just let the seller leave it in the range but with a note saying price reduced?
Just food for thought.

if the seller of a cue lowered the price, they could just change it over to another forum.

Who would move it? The poster or the mods? Do we have the ability to move posts from section to section. Just throwing out more ideas. Hopefully we can get it all straightened out , because I am all for this idea.

Seperate buy/sell forums for cues, cases, other.

Price drops? The seller reposts it in the lower priced section. No moderation needed.

GREAT IDEA!!!
have you thought of contacting mr wilson directly about this?

I like it. I buy AND sell on here and sometimes as most of you know the pages move so damn quickly!!! Then you have to keep bumping up your product and after a couple bumps you find yourself with a "dead thread". I like the idea but if the forums stayed the way they are that's fine with me too.

EXCELLENT IDEA!! Very valid and proven reasons why this division is needed and obviously wanted.

Here's the sections under "Wanted/For Sale" that I would like to see:
Cues: $0-$500
Cues: $501-$1000
Cues: $1001 up
Cue Cases
Pool Tables
Accessories & Aparrel (to include training aids)
Trade Only

I think if someone "Wants" something, then they could post in the appropriate section that they want. That way both "wanted/for sale" items are kept exactly where they need to be.

I agree too that if someone lowers the price enough to drop to another section, they should just edit the original post to show "price dropped and added to xxxx section" and then repost in appropriate section. Prices are dropping daily and the Mods have enough to worry about and moving threads will take up a lot of their time.

Mike H- sounds good to everyone so far! Whatcha think?

I think its a great idea would make it so much easier to find more of what your looking for!:ok:

Thanks for all the positive responses to this idea, and thanks to those who gave me some greenies--I can use them! I've pm'd to Mike H. to make sure he sees this; hopefully he'll give it some consideration.

Great idea and my only question would be would you guys suggest this start from here on out or that all the already existing threads be categorized? Would hate to be the guy that would have to manage that one. Hope it sparkles and shines with the powers that be cause it's an awesome idea

I disagree.
I want to see all cues in all price ranges for sale on one section.
I would be O.K. with splitting it into 3 sections
1.Cues Wanted section
2.Cues For sale or trade section
3.accessories wanted/for sale
I like the idea, I just think it would be a pain to check every section.
I think the bigger issue may be- abuse of the forum.
Maybe we could have some "guidelines" pop up when you start a thread.
Example-
-You may bump your thread up to 2 times per day for the first 3 days, 1 time a day for the next 3 days and every other day thereafter.
-you may NOT start another thread listing the same item unless your posted price has been reduced by more than 20%
_If you are not listing a CUE for sale, THIS IS NOT the appropriate section.
I'm not saying these are the right guidelines and I'm not suggesting that moderaters police it. I think it would allow new members not to start off on a bad note and it would add some teeth and definition when the "abusers" get called out on it.

With all do respect... about the comment that is in large red bold font: if you know what you are looking to spend, you wouldn't have to check every thread or search thru all the Wanted/For Sale posts to find something in your price range. There would be a dedicated thread for your price range.
I personally think it would be easier to place Wanted ads also! If I'm wanting to spend up to $400 on a cue, then I'd know where to place that post!
Just my .02,
Zim
