Idea for expanded Buy/Sell forums

I understand your point. However, if I were a high volume seller I'd want my posts to stay somewhat current for as long as possible, so that more true shoppers would see them before they got buried. My reason for suggesting this idea in the first place is that new listings quickly get buried by the constant high volume of new threads. Someone checking this forum once every day or two probably checks a couple of pages of new listings, and misses a lot that he/she is just not able to get to. Breaking these up into meaningful groupings would let listings stay closer to the top for longer than they possibly can now.

Heres the deal....If your item is semi sought after, and available at a fair price.....the item is going to be found, and it's going to sell regardless of what page it is on....you have the option of bumping your item once it gets lost on the back pages.....right now the front page turn over is about 2.5 to 3 hours.....thats pretty slow if you ask me.....I remember when the front page used to be around 45 minutes.....As a buyer I like seeing fresh front page with different items.....Times are tough right now.....changing the format of the forum is not going to increase sales........imo

maybe it's possible if they get this up & running that there could be a search function for a particular brand.
yeah i know all 800 arent on az, but i wonder how many there are though?????? 100?? more????

Ha ha, it can seem like at times there are 800 different cuemakers.

It just seems like at any given time there are several Scruggs, SW's, ST's, Joseys, and the like for sale at the same moment.

But the categories by price would be good too.

I would love to see categories. It would make my surfing go much quicker not having to weed through stuff I have no interest in or scrolling through posts that have been bumped to the moon!

I would like to see some categories like these within the wanted/for sale section.

1. Cues
2. Cue Cases
3. Cue Accessories
4. Pool Tables
5. Books & Videos
6. Other (other misc. garbage!)

I think its fine as it is or with 3 sections

I prefer the 3 section Idea or to leave it as it is. At any one time there is usually 100-150 people browsing this area, there are over 700 usually on the main forum and it isnt subdivided.

An idea that I always thought would be useful would be to have an ability for us to tag the post(s) that we're interested in following. This way, I don't have to shift through the post to find what I was interested in. Sometime, I just post so that I have a reference to the thread. Must be an easy way and it would really helpful I think.

Dale, now that I think about it...the interaction between members is what keep Azer up and running...so throwing ebay style listing would probably kill the actions. Plus...where else are you going to find threads that are so fun to read:) not to mention there's some really nice deals on here for the members.

Regards,
Duc.

I subscribe to threads I'm interested in. That way you get an email anytime someone responds to the thread.

To do that just go to "Thread Tools" and "Subscribe to this thread"

Wow...I've been here for a while and I didn't even knew this existed. You learn something new everyday. Thanks a bunch....

I have thought about this sort of thing for quite some time. But my concern is that people still want the visibility of placing an item on ebay, and posting it on an AzB auction would take that away.

Ideally, sellers want to be on both sites.

Well maybe, it's time Az can invest in a auction style listing like ebay.

I like the price points, but i would like a few more added.
1001 - 3000
3001 - over

there are too many cues that fit into 1000+. If i want to spend 2k-3k i wouldn't mind seeing the 1k cues, but not the 6k or 8k cues.

Option to View by Date and Time Thread Was Posted

I'd be satisfied if I could just view the threads in the reverse order of their original posting ignoring all bumps and replies. The latest post would be first and you could look until you got to where you quit the last time. If you'd missed 3 days of posts you could start with the most current and stop after 3 days........

I think I like the idea of a price breakdown for cue categories.

Items WTB and FS should go in the same section in my opinion regardless of price. If I have an item worth a certain price, I would like the opportunity to be hooked up with someone wanting to pay that price for that item. It seems redundant to have to look in both sections, wether you are a buyer or a seller.

I also agree that bumps should be controlled to a point, but I think that there's people on this thread who assume that just because someone bumps an item that they are not a "serious seller". What else is a seller to do when they have a slow moving item that they are indeed serious about selling?

I also think that the 1 - cues fs, 2 - cues wtb, 3 -accessories is WAY over-simplified. I see where you're coming from, because cues obviously are a majority of what's being sold on AZ, but I don't think it's relevant either to throw "everything else" in one category. Gutshot, I think your categories make about the most sense. There are enough people on here selling tables and selling accessories to warrant a category for those items as well.

Now my question to you guys...would it be reasonable to include a "services" category? I personally ALWAYS have recovers, cloth, move, etc. "for sale". Is that something that could be listed in it's own category, or is that too similar to the mechanic forum? Should FS/WTB be limited to physical goods? Just curious what you guys think.

AZbay

I think a lot of us are here because it is a forum. I for one would hate to see AZB turn into an auction house with 2 or 3 page auctions with a disclaimer as long as your arm & huge long paragraph explaining how the seller is going to do business & threatening you with flagellation & God only knows what else if you don't do it their way. Separate sub-forums would be great but please no auctions.

I personally like the "Raffles", not a big fan of auctions, and love that we (AzB) have available the "Wanted/For Sale" section. I'm all for the sub-forums in this section. It will streamline the market and save buyers/sellers time, which could be spent reading other threads.

As far as services go, I think that is kind of covered already with the "Table Mechanic" and "Ask the Cuemaker" sections. The only thing that is really left out is an "Instruction" sub-forum. What if we created a "Services" catagory and put "Ask the cuemaker", "Table Mechanic" and "Instruction" all under it? Just a thought!
