The reason people in the pool world sweat the money of others is because of the IPT experience.
I think one of the great miscalculations at the time of the IPT was that the business would definitely last for quite some time because of Kevin Trudeau's great wealth. Yes, the money he lost in that venture was not a significant amount to him, but that was hardly the point.
The reality is that good business people are adept at quickly determining when they have backed a losing venture, and, in most cases, one of the reasons they are successful is that they are smart enough to pull the plug on ventures that fail before they take a financial bath .... and that's where the problem lies. It is of no consequence whether the millions being invested in Bonus Ball are a big or a small amount in the eyes of its investors. If good business men are behind the venture, then they will pull the plug the moment they see they have a losing proposition, just as Kevin Trudeau did with the IPT.
The IPT was not backed by the personal wealth of Kevin Trudeau or his companies. Bonus Ball is not backed by the personal assets of its investors nor is it backed by any business concern that might hold it as a subsidiary. It is only backed by the investment made in the Bonus Ball enterprise, and to be honest, I highly doubt they can or will fade it if a sustainable revenue stream isn't found with reasonable promptness.
i understand that, i also know lots about IPT I aint going to get into.
Fact is(and i'm not arguing with you) just some facts, it aint your $$, my $$ or their $$(peanut gallery here) so really it dont matter. I was given real sound advice once when I started making $$ around 13-14 years ago, only count your money, dont count other peoples $$.
I realize there is lots at stake here, i know lots of guys who didnt want to play BB say 2 years ago but changed their mind because of lack of other income opportunities they changed their minds and some have lost lots of air fare $$$ with the false starts, some guys moved around tournment dates that effected people who dont play BB-thats the collateral damage, only part of it at that. And just like every time you throw away a pice of plastic the environment suffers. Its not possible to go into a venture big as BB without causing damage. thats a fact of life.
But to sit and sweat that damage and make it your (not you sjm) your own problem is stupid, now if someone wants to protest against it and be like a environmentalist and take up a cause-great let the knockers have their fun. IMO there are better thing to do than that. Like play pool, go to a movie, see friends, get water boarded, what ever your thing is.
the amour of $$ spent, collateral damage, and what ever is to come aint eough to destroy pool, think SVB is not going to stop playing, Greg aint going to say F it i'm not building tables, oh the one i like is the Banning of certain players in the future. LOL promoters need players, players need promoters, like unions. nobody has to like each other but they need each other. So in the end there will be little or no damage if BB fails, if it works then they all need to get together and sort it out. If I was in the pool biz, i would have done that already. hold your enemies closer not make silly offers of rent and staking people on a public message board. Thats why i'm not in pool biz, i cant work with dysfunctional people, no knock on Greg and Mark, I know it sounds like one but its not-I am knocking those 2 moves they made. but a move is very small comapired to the person and I think very highly of them, I think they both made knee jerk reactions and exercised poor judgment -maybe this post is just that as well on my part. so nobody is perfect. they are great guys I admire. but their biz decisions as of late are (strange). I have no comment about Berhman-i have no beef with him personally, i just dont do biz with him.
I wouldnt get in the pool biz, short of owning rooms period. its a cluster F,
it will all pass in time, and work out.
the best part of BB is watching the team aspect of it IMO-and that could sell. perhaps a good idea could be borrowed from that.....
