If It's True $ Was Held Back From MC

Who exactly did I miss networking with considering I was talking to all of the major players long before they ever got to Vegas.

Did I miss out on the next big reality TV show? Oh man I hope that wasnt what happened.

Well, we here in AZB land miss your no-BS and educated viewpoint, at least that's where I'm coming from. Not like you need to go become a reporter or anything, I just found it curious with such a big pool event there and all.

Still, if it would be that much of a PITA, I understand...

How could I be on the inside? I wasn't even in the bar drinking with everyone.

No way I could know anything about whats going on.

Come on Justin... You know nothing... OK, I'll bite my tongue.

The scuttlebutt dispelled in the bar Wednesday celebration night, from what I heard there (and I only talked with @ everybody and my bar tab was one drink BTW in @ 6 hours), had nothing to do with what's truly at hand and at stake. It is not my place to put on the street what's happened and what's alleged to have happened. It's in the hands of the powers that be, and so should it be.

I dropped $4k to watch a fair competition.

This is a chance for pro pool to wake up. And I'll vote with my wallet.

what 12 dudes?

Don't be silly Pinky, The 12 Dudes of Christmas, of course.

You never heard that song?

Real baklava is not made with honey.

Really, do tell. You learn something new everyday. Honey was around maybe a few years before Baklava was invented. (Facetious Smiley inserted here).

The Turks, Persians and Greeks were all famous for their sweet treats and quite often stole each others recipes and laid claim to them as being the first

What other ingredient was used first before honey?.

I almost got in a fight with a player in July at the Rio. Actually it would of been more of an assault. We were at the bar and drinks were flowing and he decided to tell me what he thought of some things so I told him what I thought of him. It was a dumb situation that could of had a very expensive ending.

There was also a very good friend of mine threatened with being jumped by a few players and their nuthuggers on another night last July. If I would of been there drinking when that happened there would of been a bad scene.

I don't take shit from people. Whether they play good pool or not. I am old enough to know that its just not worth putting myself in those spots anymore. If I do and someone does something dumb I'm not just going to walk away. So after this July I decided I'm not hanging out in bars with players and pool people anymore. I'll do my job, be professional as possible and do my hanging out somewhere else.

As for watching the cup I have always preferred to see the tv production. I can learn more seeing what they do with the final product than seeing the live set up as I have seen that side of it before. Matchroom does an amazing job with the whole thing. Hopefully the US players chosen next time will be people I can stand to be around.

I had the hook up for the whole thing. The cocktail parties, comps for admission all because Matchroom are very generous and classy people.

I didnt go to anything but the HOF dinner and that was because I promised Mike Pannozzo I would film it.

The reason why I did not go to the biggest show in pool taking place in my backyard is because I had no desire to see several players I have little to no respect for being held up as representatives of my country and the game as whole. I also had no desire to see people falling all over themselves kissing these players ass.

So I watched the stream and got to see the excellent production work, hear good commentary and miss out on all the lies, bullshit, hero worship, and other assorted nonsense that happens in the bars and restaurants after the playing is done.

I lost out on seeing some good people I don't often get a chance to see but honestly I wasnt willing to hold my tongue and fade the shit I knew i would have to fade if i ran around the hotel all week. So I stayed home.

Nothing wrong with trusting your gut feelings Justin and your not the first person has gotten burned out on pool players and some of there antics. I have several friends who not only refuse the attitude of many players as a whole but have turned away from the game entirely. This thread went a little weird today and you are just keeping it real from your angle.
It would of been nice to add you to the folks I finally got to meet but there may be another time.

I'm not turned off on the game but definitely on some of the players and attitudes that are accepted as the norm. There are a lot of great guys out there playing some amazing pool. Many of them were at the Cup. Someone just asked why I wasnt there and the above posts are the truth,.

If you make it to the USBTC in Reno or Vegas in July please stop by the TAR area and say hello.

The whole "I've got a secret, but I can't tell it" or "what happens in Vegas" shit is for the birds so here is exactly what I've heard through the grapevine. It's from people that are definitely in the know, so you decide for yourselves.

1) Team USA members DID in fact get handed some fines for bad language/and or bad actions. From what I hear Earl got fined $8,500. Rodney $6,000. Dennis $5,000. OR, they could forego the fines and streak down Fremont St in the rain.

2) Karl Boyes is a cross dresser and used to be a she

3) They cut Johnny a check for the entire $60,000 for the US and he lost it all playing mini-baccarat

4) Shane is still in the practice room working on the break

5) Appleton and Mika ran up huge bar tabs after the cup and signed Ralf's room number for the charge.

6) Matchroom is being taken over by the Black Entertainment Network and next year's event will be renamed the Deathball Cup.

7) Danny Harriman is still batshit crazy

Man I hope #7 is true. Seeing Deathball do his act is funny as hell for the first 15 minutes after which you just want to throw him in a woodchipper. It would be perfect for TV.

Format will be 6-ball races to 2 and Deathball gets to break for both teams. Scooter and Tedder will be team captains. Whichever one can speak with the best accent will captain Europe.

Wise decision...thanks again for the explanation.

I'll jump off the wagon and get shit @ss drunk in a room full of said people with you..... Low altitude nose bleeds are a specialty of mine! I may not run out but I am pretty good at other things.

I have done a lot of wood chipping with chippers that will handle a 24 inch tree.
When someone accidently falls through one of these machines we call it the "Pink Cloud"

Ah, the siren's song of the Vermeer... I know it well myself. Or are you a Bandit kinda guy?

I'm a city boy. The only wood chipper I've ever seen was the one in the movie "Fargo."
