because it's easier to complain than it is to start a website. :wink:

Many times someone will be "banned" for something seemingly small, when in fact they are already on 2-3 warnings.
I think Dave,Chuck & Mike do a great job moderating this site. It's what makes it great. I think if people would research "all posts" by the banned person some light would be shed.
Like Alstl said, try your own website. It's not easy to end up with a great site like this!!

How about a quick trial and first class hanging?
Dave ain't perfect and it seems that some think that this justifies a quick trial and a first class hanging. The idea isn't without small merit since we demand godlike perfection in his position but there is one minor catch. Before we can lynch him we need somebody to take his place. You know, read through page after page of drivel threads that most of us ignore or read when we are bored because as mod he has to jump on problems as soon as possible. As a former mod I can tell you this means late nights and hanging around the computer when you would much rather be doing something else too.
So, before we lynch him, who's going to fill his shoes? Anybody want that job? Do we vote in a new guy so that we can lynch him too as soon as he annoys a few of us? Actually we can't vote at all so if some unhappy people persuade Dave or Mike that Dave needs to go then we get somebody new, somebody that we may like far less. I know that I was a much less tolerant mod than Mike or Dave is and I haven't mellowed with age!

Back in WWII the drill was for recruits to police the area every thirty minutes when they weren't doing anything else, down to cigarette butts and pine straw. The huge pines supplied plenty of straw and were items of interest in other ways too. Dysentery was common and it was a fair distance between the barracks and the latrines. Figures moving through the dark pines all night long were common. One night as my dad was making his second or third trip of the night someone sped by him then there was a loud thud as a recruit found a large pine tree with his face followed by another thud as he hit the ground. A few seconds later dad heard, "hell, I wouldn't have made it anyway!"
As for the mod for a day idea it is a good one except I think that the folks that figure they can do better need to try it on for a week or two. I hated being the moderator. As the moderator I often had to hammer people I agreed with and support people when I disliked both them and their position since the job of admin was only to enforce the board's ROE.

I hereby volunteer to be mod for today and I accept your proposal and I'm hitting you with all five fines simultaneously for a total of $870. I will pm you my paypal address. There will be no 6 month timeout though so I can continue to fine you. I'm hoping to save up for a Bushka.

Seriosly tho.
You could have trusted members just look over their particular section and report violations giving the mods more time to deal with more serious stuff. They could just be in charge of editing porn, language, or moving threads to different areas that are mislabeled etc. Leave the banning to the higher ups.
