If you could have a stroke....

But back to the thread...any discussion of fantastic "thing of perfection" strokes must include Allison.

It never ceases to amaze me in threads like this one how the women are always left out. We are only talking about strokes here, and without a doubt Allison Fisher has the most fundamentally sound stroke that has ever been seen in the world of pocket billiards. I too, would love to have her stroke.

I would put Allison up there for long pots and straight-ins since her accuracy is so good, but when it comes to doing something with whitey that's another matter.

"Doing something with whitey" IMO, has more to do with the mental aspect of the game than it does the stroke. If she didn't park whitey where she needed to, it was more that she (or anyone else for that matter) made a mental error and can only blame bad judgement on the outcome. IMO, I don't believe the shooters stroke has as much to do with bad cueball placement as does bad judgement (i.e. speed, or amount of spin to apply), surely not in Allison Fisher's case.

Allison definitely has a fundamentally sound stroke, but I would not say that hers is more sound than, say, Buddy Hall's or Steve Mizerak's. And Mizerak's was just so fluid it was like he was slicing through butter with a hot knife every time he went through whitey. Mizerak was the Mozart of pool.

SVB's and Luat's strokes (both so long and smooth, and they both make touchy shots look so easy) at the present. as for back in the day players, i would have to say Jim Rempe - i think he has the most solid fundamentals in the game, and even to this day has a very, very strong stroke.

I don't think Mully was just talking about the motion of the stroke, but the effectiveness of it -- i.e; getting the CB to travel further / impart more spin / etc.
Frankly I just don't see any of the women really competing with the men here, and that's not a bash on women.

As for OP... I'd like just about anyone else's stroke, even some women :frown:

I voted Buddy but if I had a second choice it would be Massey or Nevel. I'm talkin power.

Too many to list but these two come to mind

...the best most efficient beautiful stroke I ever saw was that of Steve Mizerak and I like Ralf Souquet's almost as much as the Mizz's.

I'm new around here.I grew up playing pool in oklahoma city so James Walden will always be my favorite. If James started doing something different me and my buddies attempted to follow.

efren or alex P. all the way... my problem is, i have the bustamante stroke. lolz.

Im a lefty so sigel.

But i love efrens stroke. the things he can make that cueball do are amazing.

i also wouldnt minds busty's loopy stroke. Its so exaggerated that its awesome.

Coming from the north east I'm going with a real dark horse.....Jimmy Matz. It was like Earl injected with Silicone...

then I'll take Allen Hopkins for pure accuracy, and repeatability.

after that, it's a toss up between about 6 Phillipino guys...

stroke best practices

If you could trade your stroke in for any stroke you've ever seen who's stroke would you like to have? Personally, I'd go with Buddy Hall. I'm not very fond of his slow pace and the slight stop at the back end but my God that man gets a lot of action with so little effort. I've tried for years and years to emulate his stroke but it's definitely one of a kind.

I don't think it is always good to try to mimic a particular player, because most players have individual "quirks." If I could choose any stroke, I would prefer one that has all of the generally accepted "best practices" attributes.

What does the dancing banana have to do with Efren's stroke?

I would have to go with Luat's stroke. Very pleasing to watch.
