If you could only buy one cue (to play with)

I would want a Deanocue, in fact I do want one to try out. I have played with the Starkey pass around cue and really like the wood to wood joint pins feel.--Leonard

I'd take a sugartree or a cue from joey bautista or mason h to play with in the under 1k range.

Over 1k I'd probably get a bluegrass. Over 2k I'd get a Hercek more than likely....only 6 more years.....

thats my cue! - I ordered it from bert schrager in 2000 and got it in 2003. I sent it to Scott at Proficient (the website you took the picture from) to have it refinished "or" finished properly since bert used what appeared to be Krylon spray paint to finish the cue.

How To Buy More Cues......

Kenny,
Do you think Barry's cues play better than anything else?
thanks-jeff
I like the way it plays, I am playing with it once a week:D in the 8 ball league BCA that's all the time i got. But that just my opinion. All the cues that I own they all plays different. But then again if my money is that tight I might have to get a 2nd job just to buy more cues....:D :D :D

i had a Barry years ago and was shocked at how well it played.i kind of thought it was just a wystique thing, but the playability is there too.

Why buy one!!!

Well, with all my friends here and all of their great choices - I just need to "borrow" the Szam, the Hercek, the Scruggs, the bluegrass, etc. I never need to buy a cue, if all these people are on my team, and they will let me "TRY" their cues out, and therefore, I do not need even ONE cue. And I got plenty of beer money.:D

I just got mine and it is simply amazing. Like many said when you get to the upper echelon of cue makers it is hard to find a dud.

I would search for the following:

Szamboti - (Gus or Barry - you can't go wrong)
Searing - a reason you can't find them
Hercek - Hard to find and you can't go wrong if you have to reach into your pockets
Schick - Just like the guys above --- you just can't go wrong
Showman - I will have one of his cues b/c he is just like the guys above
Haley, Tascarella, Ginacue, Zylr, SW, Sugartree -- the list goes on!

I guess once you find your one and only cue you realize you need another! Damn cue bug has me down $10K+ in the last three months! :D

I have or have had Hercek, Tascarella , Jensen, White , Bluegrass, Olney, Scruggs, Wheeler, Blackcreek, Rauenzahn, Dayton, Schuler, Runde Schons and a few others. I have not tried Gilbert, Searing , Howard, Szamboti,Gina, Zyrl, Southwest,Ohman, Prewett, Webb etc. I have a Davis blank on order, not sure who i should have do it. Plus i would like to try something else in the mean time. I curently play with a jensen that is said to play much like a Szamboti. If a Szam is truly better, I'll buy one.
thanks for listning-opinions welcome-jeff

Opinions..........

I'm a recent Tex cue convert. Plays like silk. Gets better and better each time out. Tex will build one as you like it and the hit is phenomenal.

Edit: I have Fast_&_Loose to thank for this.................

give them a try.....

a searing SS 5/16x14 joint or a gilbert 3/8x10 wood-wood joint , ya will not be disappointed, andy's big pin cues are sick, especially for the price. JS

I would buy a Callaluca Cue for sure . I could not be more happy with mine ! Before i got mine i was jumping from cue to cue never played with the same cue longer than a week or two . I have been playing with my Callaluca for months now and wouldnt even think of switching to any other cue.

Without a doubt a darrin hill cue. A cue built for moving the ball at ease yet solid! How does he do it? Best long point work in the world #1. This is a statement based on 28 yrs of playing with the very best custom cues money can buy!!!!! A hills cue is a pool players cue with great balance, shaft tapper & superb finish.:) :) :)

One of the most gorgeous looking cues I've ever laid eyes on . . . hope it plays as good as it looks!

I just want to know how many of you are using a predator shaft on your cues that have been mentioned above??

I would go with any solid full splice wrapless cue with a 314 shaft

There are several cues that would fit your need quite nicely...Joel Hercek makes a great cue but the waiting list is very long, Southwest also makes a great cue and their waiting list is even longer. That leaves you with the option of buying a cue on the secondary market. You can find cues both new and used here. I have a new Southwest on order which should be delivered within the next four months, and that is also the cue I currently play with. So good luck in your search and if you have any questions feel free to contact me.
