If you could only buy one cue (to play with)

Plainish 59" Barry Szamboti cue with piloted ivory joint....19.5-19.7oz....that's my answer and I'm sticking to it !!

Sugartree
Blackcreek
James White

I couldn't, in good conscience, name just one. I've shot with most...and these are my favorites.

1k sets?

You got one of these, you will get the cash.Got to credit Simon for the photo.

Since I play with a wrapless Blue Grass and since every Blue Grass I have ever hit with except for one all hit the same, then I would want a Blue Grass as a replacement to play a match with. If it looked like this one, I'd be set!:)

Lambros ultra-joint. If you haven't hit one of these, you should.

If I didn't build cues, and I had to pick a cuemaker to build me a cue for my player, It would be Mike Lambros, New or old ultra joint doesn't matter, Just put a leather wrap on it, and I'm set. I own 3 by the way.:D

I've owned all of these in the >2K range,
and I would consider had I lost them all
to replace them in this order of my
perception of playability over
collectablility

Pre date Southwest
Lambros w/ultra joint II
Murray Tucker titlist conversion
TAD-1 (only one of the bunch with a SS joint)
Mottey w/ivory joint

Lambros w/ultra joint II would be a great choice.

good question. No more than say 2000 range as it would be a playing cue. Colectability would mean nothing as this would be a player only.
thanks- jeff
I would buy a piloted 5/16x14 ivory jointed Paul Mottey cue. The nicest I could get for under $2000 as you specified. I owned a cue like this and it was the best playing cue i've ever owned and i've owned cues with all of the different joint styles. The cue I had was a 4 point with veneers Hoppe style cue with no inlays and an ivory joint with matched predator shafts and it played so good I can't believe I sold it. I wanted something a little fancier with inlays and trim rings and that's why I sold that cue, but i've yet to find a cue that played as well as that one.

Well technically

If we wish to get existential, even if you did "purchase" any cue yourself, you are simply paying to use/borrow the cue during your lifetime. I have not played with a Searing, SZAM, BUSHKA or Hercek but have heard they are all very great cues. Id like to take one of each for a whirl to see what they were like.

Ed Young

One I would not like, well everyone one knows that answer :-)

Well, with all my friends here and all of their great choices - I just need to "borrow" the Szam, the Hercek, the Scruggs, the bluegrass, etc. I never need to buy a cue, if all these people are on my team, and they will let me "TRY" their cues out, and therefore, I do not need even ONE cue. And I got plenty of beer money.:D

For $2000.....definitely a fancier Joel Weinstock or a fancier Sugartree. Two of my best players right now. Although, I have a Mark Bear Titlist, Bill McDaniel and Micheal Morgan full splice that play just as well as any....but the Weinstock and SugarTree are unique in their playability. The sugartree actually felt like a kersenbrock that I look at from Don Sureman....you just know its an amazing player when you pick it up.

Regards,
Duc.
