If you won Powerball would you make a pro tour?

Nope, I'd open a nice hall with a restaurant attached, with nothing but the best equipment possible kept in tip top condition.

no winners tonight, we have to save pool next week.

Then the thread continues!!!

I'd make the IPT lies the truth!

I'd give Mark Griffin the $20MM to do what he thinks will work.

I'd work on the three or four things Greg Sullivan has in mind for production.

I'd work with Pat Fleming on his wish list to make Accustats even better.

I'd bring TAR back and make sure they had the same quality as the World Championships.

I'd open up my vision of a pool hall and charge an outrageously low price.

I'd have Earl, Shane, Dennis, and Darren Bobble Head Dolls made.

Oh, who am I kidding? All I'd do for pool is to buy a bigger TV and watch reruns of the Last Call for 9-ball and cheer on Nick Varner.

I would create a state of the art pool room...have only one pocket
tournaments and bankrupt it in 3 years for tax purposes...change
the business name...go another 3 years....and repeat...and repeat.

This is the same business model my local Chinese restaurants growing up use. We used to call the local spot "Number 5," because it had change names so many time' but kept the same look and American Chinese Takeout taste. In reality, they wer on their 10th or more changeover.

With the Powerball 900 million tonight, would you do anything with pool if you won?

Maybe start a new pro tour, 10 stops 100k per stop, and a 500k season finale?
Maybe give the money to existing promoters so they can do the above, but under their brands instead of a new brand?
Start a chain of pool halls?
Something else?

I can see a few sides:
1. You love pool and will spend the money knowing its a long term money losing idea.
2. You do not contribute at all since it is a money losing idea.
3. You hire the best business people to try to turn it into a money making idea?

Thoughts of this fantasy?

Not unless it was a viable business that made some sense.. Why would I just give away money to pool players?

With that kind of dough I would buy a small Carribean island nation and host $100K challenge matches. I'd leave it to somebody else and their money to save pool, I just want to watch the best of the best battle for the cash.

Oh... I'd probably spend a lot on booze and classy call girls as well. Mustn't forget the priorities.

CSI powerball

Well Freddie,
That's pretty big gesture- and I appreciate the trust. But I think I could make it work. I'd have a solid foundation in place from junior to pro-WPA sanctioned world events. Complete rules of behVior, dress code, and penalties guide. I'd have the right people up to speed and running a top notch series of local, state, national, and world events. Top quality production and professionally run.

With too marketing and management.

All financially sustainable! We have 2/3 the technology operational. I have the vision and ability to make it all happen.

So- I'll take the money sir. And thanks again!

Markg

No Halls left in town. The local players would have the best facilities to play in.
I would invest in decent tourneys where everyone got a slice. Table time would remain at the break even point. Lots of free food during the Touneys.
I would drop in as many League tables as necessary and help the Local LO get bigger and better.

Lots of Charitable Events.

As for a Pro Tour, these guys would be figuring out ways to dick you and the Tourney before the first rack was broke.

Been thinking this for while so here goes.
I would dump a reasonable figure at it. It would start with a sit down of all the top people accu, csi, justin, inside, matchroom, party poker the lot. I would also look at people from here to see who has what to offer, I'm the bank roll and them the tallent.
The idea would be that each contribute their talent with a minim of breaking even so to say for the first year as we look to see what is possible profit wise, since I can absorb the hit they would be at no risk. I would have this sit down with the most respectable players to know what seems fit from a players stand point. We would pool ideas together to come up with the best series of evens as we can, other places and people are doing it no reason why it can't happen here.
By everyone agreeing to wait and see how things go so we can decide how much prizes can be I think an honest system/tour/event, hopefully this will build such a thing that a net work like espn might want to pick up again.
i.e.
An event where I go to sprint or verizon and ask them to sponsor the network for the whole place, banners everywhere saing that wifi is brought to you by X, I'd pay for commercial spots, offer the top streamers each a table to cover so that their followers can support them and much more matches can be covered (like they did in Dubai I think where they had the 6-8 tables) and it would keep fanning down so that they all end up on the main table at the end, I would make deals with local hotels for rooms so thst the players have the most minimal expense ever (all of these people would be sponsors, hotel by, food by, this by, that by, just like you see they do now with kamui and Simonis). You guys see where I'm going with this, a joint venture and if it works I'd by out the wpa so that more event can be sanctioned and there be so actual standards to this thing, not the different tables, cloth, balls, rules and all that.

One shot, if the players want it they have to help make it work, penalties for anyone caught in any funny activity even players being banned, if it fails then forget the pros and I work exclusily with the BEF

I would donate to all Pro events just by paying the entry fee and playing. Maybe gambling with the best players in world for a hundred or two.

Simple-because when you suddenly have a billion dollars, profit on a pool tour doesn't concern you. Now if you treat EVERY aspect of your spending like this you may get in trouble.

I would not take the lump sum. Or maybe I would. I don't know.

I bought 5 tickets, and got 2 numbers. On two different tickets.

I would buy pool.

Then I would hire Jason Hunt to run it.

To bad he's gone

If Cornbread was still around I'd give to him and tell him "here Corn, see if you
can run this in to something"

I'd set up something like Camel had going back in the day.
Lots of stops, decent money so that players could earn an ok living.
End of the year bonuses, etc etc.

Only catch would be that along with the entry fee, to be eligible, all players would have to crawl across the floor, bow down and beg me to let them play in the tournament, and praise my generosity while kissing my shoes and calling me master.

Then and only then, could they enter.
Instant they didn't comply, they would be off the tour forever.

Absolutely, but it would be ran as a business with the end goal of the tour being self sufficient by getting sponsorships, advertising, gate, etc. It would take time because you would need to build a brand. With the money guaranteed, the players would get in line.

If that didn't work, then I would just sponsor a tournament each year.
