I'm curious, how many racks have you run in a row(9-ball on 4.5x9 only)

What's your lifetime highest consecutive racks run amount on any 4.5x9?

An early 9-ball or on the snap should be part of the 'pack'.

I was at a tournament once where they offered a special prize for running the set.
But they said 9-ball on the break didn't count....so I stood up and declared
that I would like to exempt myself from that break prize..I was asked why...
I said "Who wants to be one game away and HOPE you don't make the 9 on the break?"
They agreed and changed it to 'a pack is a pack'.

Earl's million dollar pack had early nines and off the break in it.

I'm not gonna say the number I entered in the poll for my pack....
...but I will say it was unfinished...it was for the dough...and the backers ran out of cash.;)

I know what you mean about that but my reasoning is simple, a runout should require at least multiple shots even if not but 2. I mean when you make it on the break, it's only 1 shot. However, I do understand your reasoning for things such as prizes and whatnot but that's not the case normally.

Combos definitely count, I don't personally count 9's on the break but they also don't stop runs either. If you run 2 make the 9 on number 3 and then run the fourth, I count that as 3 racks. But that's just my opinion.

Then a 3 is max I got by that definition bud

I'm curious who are the people that marked down 10+ on a 9 footer. They must be name players. Chris Bartrum, Mike Dechaine, Donny Mills?

I'm curious about that too but wasn't gonna ask, just happy to see so many folks voting.

Btw my 7 was in a race to 7 on a Diamond against an unknown road player. He calmly asked me heads or tails after I made the last 9-ball and I snap quit him. I was in my early 20s and that scared the hell out of me!

I marked 10+. I ran 10 on a normal gold crown some time ago given up a big spot. It was for money but not a lot. Normal rack, loser racks. I think I made the 9 1 maybe 2 times.

Impressive sir, even if the 9 didn't count it would still be better than mine... Another reservation I have about the 9 otb counting is that I've seen guys make it a few times in a row playing rack your own alot. I played one guy in a tournament that beat me 9-0, he kept me in the chair til 8-0 he missed the 7 and afterwards he was saying he almost ran the set. The part he never mentioned was he made the 9 otb 5 times including 3 in a row. We were playing rack your own and I didn't know I could check em back then. Even if I did know I may not have found what he was doing. Of course that changed...

6 racks. Once in my life. And it was a total fluke with a few asterisks thrown in to make it even more dubious.

There were two snapped 9s, a combo, a push out that was given back to me (important to note that I assed a ball in during that rack), and two legit run outs.

But telling people that story is long and tiresome. So I just say 6 cause it makes me sound super badass. I only give the details after they see me play. lol

- B <---------- highest apart from that sh!tshow was probably 4

Two answers:

Five racks, getting the six ball.

Three racks, getting nothing (opponent wouldn't let me use his break cue for the fourth game )

I prefer the "five" answer.

Okay...What do I get, a three pack or a five pack? :)

Three for me a long time ago.

The only running I'm doing now is back to my seat to drink my beer before it's my turn again. :)

I've run out 4 consecutive racks on a 9 footer recently without ball in hand. With ball in hand after the break the most I've done is 7.

hard to buy that.

What are you trying to say? Looks like this anonymous poll shows that AZB has plenty of stone cold pool killers on these boards. As of this writing, 51% of y'all have run 4 or more and have 36% have run 5 or more consecutively. Looks like 3 of you guys are about as good as Earl in his prime...

obviously BIH or playing the ghost doesn't count. Must be from the break, play it as it lies. Practice, Gambling and tournaments all count as long as it is in a game against another player....

Exactly. I'm not buying it either.

7 racks of 9 on an 8over GC, 8 Racks of 8 on a Valley both in tournaments.... 5 racks on 9ft AE Schmidts with generous pockets 6-7 times. I swear it was a mental block.... Can't get past a 3 on 9ft Diamonds with pro cut pockets... And 5 on A diamond barbox with procuts.

One thing I will note... Safety play is way bigger in my game now than it was years ago... I'd rather run 3 and stick you for ball in hand than shoot at a flyer... I learned that lesson in a race to 7 tourney on 8overs where I ran 6 from the lag and lost 7-6 because I took a flyer and never got a good look at making another ball. It was brutal .....

Chris

I've run 4 several times, including in tournaments.

Can't seem to get to 5......usually a dry break.

Handful of 3's in 8 ball,
handful of 3's in 9 ball.

My break usually lets me down, there are days where I feel like I can run 6 if I just get ball down.
