I'm sorry

If you are truely sorry....then I think you should post a reply in one of the aiming threads and explain exactly how you aim and what system/method you use (if any)...

That way you can help us all put the aiming threads to rest.:)

BTW....you should not be sorry for the miss....it happens....That is why we actually play the games....

I would venture a guess that 90% of the people on this board would have a hard time just drawing the cue back on that kind of stage....forget about even making the ball.:)

Hey Dennis, I just wanted to say publicly that going with you to the Cup was truly one of the coolest experiences of my life, I mean that! Being around the guys and seeing how the whole machine operates gives me a bigger understanding and respect for what it takes to do what you do.

Being in the spotlight like you are is going to open you to the ridicule and praise of everyone who knows anything (and sometimes nothing) about pool. Sometimes going on this forum makes me appreciate my own sanity because I seem pretty normal when I read some of the retarded things people say on here. Just because it's written or said doesn't make it true. So, don't let some of the naysayers on here get to you... your too good and strong a player to let it bother you.

It's takes lots of skill and big balls to do what you just did last year and this year. Sometimes people have such short memories and want to just bash you for the sake of bashing you when they don't really realize what it takes to do what you do.

In any case, I'm a little late in commenting on all this but you already know how I feel about it. You will get them all next year and with any luck you can play Darren Sunday in the finals at Turning Stone for the cheese and whitewash him!!!

Your friend,
Jim

I've stood over putts so completely nervous i could barely remember which end of the club I hit the ball with and that was in front of NOBODY. You had that incredible crowd and the world watching and you had a ball run a couple of inches too long on a tricky shape position.

Forget regret.

That shot is over. Its the next one that counts.

Great show.

Thanks

Kevin Brewer

Dennis,
since everyone thinks you lost the Cup you now have to take a year off from killing all of us up here in the Joss north east, and only practice up for the next Mosconi cup.

We will REALLY miss you, and send you updates on how the tours are going, but you must pay your penance!

Maybe stay in the UK and play with those guys........you know they all think you can't hang! :)

Some guy named Darren might wanna hit a few racks? :D

seriously......you represented the USA with much pride and spirit and skill....

happy holidays killer!

G.

Dennis, don't sweat the people on here giving you crap, you noticed none of them hit you up to play for 10 Grand on TAR. I think you are a great player that loves this great country, and this great game. Do you enjoy doubles in the Mosconi Cup format? Could you see yourself teaming up with Earl?

"the hatchet"

Dennis thank you for your great play and all of your courage to play Mosconi Cup! I have enjoyed watching you and competing against you for many years. I think Jay hit it on the head- you are one USA player that they all fear, so keep your chin high because you did not lose anything for us. See you at Turning Stone- hope you knock it off_ Greg!

Dennis,

I must say that I enjoyed watching you play because you play with emotion.

Keep doing what you are doing.

The crowd was so rowdy because they knew u were a threat. You dont owe anyone an apology Dennis. You deserve to play in the Ryder Cup because you have a heart for the game....
I only wish i could play anywhere near your speed as does those blaming you for the loss. The ones who blame you cant even carry your pool cue.
You're a champion plain and simple...
Keep your chin up kid ;)
As i always say...we'll get em next year....

Dennis, you still "da Man" in my book!!! You are one of only two players in the world (Jesse Bowman) that I would literally be frightened to match up against. Your skilled, intimidating, and a hell of a shot-in-the-arm for American pool!

Screw anybody with their "what have you done for me lately" attitudes/views. Most of your recent critics would've kissed your ass in a packed arena after last years Cup and subsequent MVP award. You don't need 'em. You just need to be YOU, who happens to be one of the best players America has to offer.

Never apologize for 100% effort. More people need to have the heart you do.

Good luck and good rolls to you in your future events.

Maniac

Nothing I can add that others haven't said already. Dennis, thank you for representing the USA.

(edit) Do you think if I typed with only one finger my table skill would increase? Damn...I'm ready to try anything! ;)

Dennis you have nothing to hang your head about, unless being one of the most feared players on the planet is a bad thing. The only ones who should be hanging their heads are the nay sayers who ought to be trying to get their colective heads out from where the sun don't shine. (pardin the picture ) I also must say that what Jay Helfert wrote I 100% agree with. I hope you read it and think about it. I would personaly love to see you play in the US Open in Chesapeake and some of the World Championships, win or not, however I seriously doubt anyone who knows anything about pool and is honest wouldn't say you have a great chance to win and will if not from the start, then after you've played in a few in a row and settled in. In closing a talent like yours shouldn't be bottled up, let the world see I love it every time I get a chance to watch you play. Hal, PS. I too would like to see you win this week at Turning Stone but not over Apppleton because I don't even want to see him come 2nd

Thank you Jay... - Today, 02:54 AM

My only quibble with you is that you don't play more, and travel a little more to play in some of the International events. I KNOW that you can play with anyone! I've seen them all Dennis, and you are one of the best hopes for an American to win a major title. Your game can match up with anyone's, including the filipinos and the Taiwanese. When you're right, which is most of the time, you can intimidate all of them! Now that I know you have a passport, I want to see you at more International events. Like you just said, NO EXCUSES!

By the way Dennis, I did say (it's my job) that your match with Darren was a turning point for Team Europe. But when you won that key match with Nick on Sunday (after Johnny's big win), I said that you had put Team USA right back in it. In fact I liked Shane in the next match to tie it up. You redeemed yourself pretty fast imo. You showed a lot of heart in that match Sunday with Nick.

Look Dennis, you've made it to the top of your profession. Only the very best American (or European) players will ever play in a Mosconi Cup. You are known the world over for your skills (yes, all the filipinos and Chinese know who you are). No one is running to make a match with you. NO ONE! Not many people can ever say they reached the elite level in their chosen field, but you can. What you have worked so hard for, you have achieved. Now just go out there and use your abundant skills to win more titles. Get one of those U.S. Open crowns, that you are qualified to win! And then stack a World Championship or two on your mantle to go with it. Only handful of people have a chance to do that, and you're one of them. Just in case you didn't know that.

One more thing Dennis. You're an exciting player to watch. You have a very powerful presence and the camera loves you. Buddy, you're a star whether you like it or not. The fans (live, on TV and online) can't get enough of you. Do you know what the European fans asked me early each day? "When is Hatch playing?" is what they wanted to know. They asked about you before anyone else. Wonder what that means.

Jay,

You just saved me a whole bunch of typing...!!! Very well said.

For those complaining about D being MIA,

If you think back... I believe someone else actually came on asking us to support D in the voting and after the responses were so over the top D came on in response to the turn out... almost in disbelief. He could have just let the voting take it's course and never acknowledged any of you at all. He was getting the votes anyway. Now because some feel he does not contribute enough he used them and now looks down on them. People he was not overly active here before the vote (as many pros are not.. I wonder why?) Be thankful a touring pro took the time to thank you for what you were doing anyway and appreciate it.

After talking with D after it all happened last year let me tell you... A man can not fake the amount of emotion, gratitude, thankfulness and appreciation I saw, heard and felt as he told the story of how you all helped make one of his dreams come true. Realize you did a good thing for someone and expect nothing in return.

D,

You are a champion! There is not a player in the world who thinks you are anything less than a "lion"...!!! Great job and try to fade the BS if you plan to check out the forums from time to time. With all do respect most here would not know greatness if it ran over them... Much less what it takes to sustain it.

Hat's off to you to come here & apologize but like everyone else said there is no need....pool will always be a game of inches with good & bad rolls...I love the passion you display and it's easy to see the love you have for the competition...Keep up the good work.

And as we all seen they were getting every roll possible, team usa earned every point with pure HEART!

Dennis
You have nothing to be sorry about and for Brenda and I it was simply an honor to meet you in London. You are a truly great player but even more than that you are a great person, we love you for that.

woulda coulda shoulda, you did what you thought was best, don't beat yourself up over this. you don't owe anyone an apology as long as you tried your best.

Dennis:

Anyone who would knock you over your performance can't carry your jock strap anyways. Just like people who knock Tiger Woods when he plays a hole poorly---- makes no sense since he could prob spot those same people 35 strokes a round.

I think it's always good to reflect on how you could have done this or that better; however, in the end all you can do is your best.

You don't owe anyone an apology EVER. If someone criticizes you, let THEM get picked for the Mosconi Cup and do better.

Dave

I told my team I felt responsible and they said "if you would have won that match would you have said you won us the cup" and I said no and they said WELL you didn't lose it for us were still in it and if we lose its a team loss and if we win its a team win!!
Wow, that's a pretty brazen thing to say to you. Were they insinuating that you were carrying everyone on the team? BTW, I seen everyone on both sides make some odd mistakes.

Thanks for representing USA Dennis! It feels good to watch a team that plays with great passion for their country. That match with Shane was awesome! I'd take you guys against any of their two any day.
