I wasn't trying to get lower on the rail!! I was just trying to get to the center of the table and I under cut the seven and hit it a little funny because I was nervous and the cue ball slid off the rail, if you watch the replay you will see I put my hand down in the center of the table showing where I wanted to get I got a little distracted because the crowd made noise and the ref had to reset the clock NO EXCUSES I should have took more time walked around the table one more time!! Well I am sorry to anyone and everyone who thinks its my fault!! Its hard enough to deal with as it is!! I told my team I felt responsible and they said "if you would have won that match would you have said you won us the cup" and I said no and they said WELL you didn't lose it for us were still in it and if we lose its a team loss and if we win its a team win!! I think the whole team could have played better WE ALL TRIED ARE HARDEST AND GAVE IT ARE ALL IT WAS A GREAT TEAM!! I did have one great match with Shane though!! would have been 2 great matches if I beat DAZ I would have been the only one on are team with a winning record instead I ended the cup 3-3. You played hard and there is no shame in that, Your team is right.
No 1 person wins or loses a team event.
It is an honor to even make that team. You should be proud of
yourself, and we(the fans) are proud of you

Hat's off to you to come here & apologize but like everyone else said there is no need....pool will always be a game of inches with good & bad rolls...I love the passion you display and it's easy to see the love you have for the competition...Keep up the good work.:thumbup:

Dennis,
You may not have won the Mosconi Cup, but you came home with a lot of great memories - along with some disappointment that will serve as motivation for you to return to Team USA next year. Ignore the blamers and just keep moving forward doing what you do best.
 
Dennis, as I briefly mentioned in another thread, I'm not one of your fans, and I'll not go into that here, but believe me if it were your fault I'd be a critic! As your team mates told you, it was a team effort and you were all under a lot of pressure. Personally I think the races are way too short for such a prestigious event and the American team had it's share of bad rolls and then some. The break was an enormous factor multiplied by the Europeans having the home field advantage and the crowd all working in it's favor. You're not going to win every time out of the gate and there's no reason to be ashamed over the teams losing. You have no reason to apologize and those who think otherwise are just showing their ignorance!

Every competition has a winner and loser(s). As time marches on the feelings/emotions applicable to who won and lost will diminish while the emotions you and your team experienced while competing will stay with you the rest of your life.

Dennis, anyone that has seen you compete can tell that you are a fiery competitor. You were MVP last year and this year, the USA, as a team, came up short in Europe's homecourt. Don't beat yourself up. Most here know you gave it your best. The Mosconi Cup, with it's short races, is quite different than most competitions. Your record speaks for itself, and it says you are very deserving to be on that team.

Great post, always good to see into the mind of a great player and this will help me with keeping an even keel during matches. Don't take my post earlier as a negative, even the title was not "for" you but rather an opening for discussion as to how the play went down. I'm glad you all got to be there and battle for the title, and your play and energy was one of the best on the team. I owe YOU an appology (as I think my post started this) for making you feel you need to appoligize to the pool community. You went to play, and you did, hope you get another shot at them!
 
Hatchetman, no need to apologize. It was just a simple error in execution, so no need to beat yourself up over it.

Man you don't owe anybody any apologies!!! You did your best and that is all that can be asked of anyone. Every week I play in a C and D tournament and every week I give it my best, sometimes I win and sometimes I lose but I always give it my best and I sleep good at night. Thank you for representing us all and please don't lose any sleep over this.

Last year I think you caught team Europe by surprise and they didn't like it or you for that matter. This year you stole there hearts, congradulations on your second time defending the USA. And don't get to used to this forum it can kind of grow on you. I hope to see you back next year.
 
You're apologizing to a small group of second guessers that don't deserve your apology. The pressure of the mosconi cup is immense and unlike any game that anyone here has ever played. You were the catalyst that led to the US winning the cup last year. There were nearly 1000 balls made this year, your one shot didn't lose the entire match.

Don't worry about the detractors who would give anything to be in your position. I would love to come up bad on that position, because that would mean I played well enough to be in the mosconi cup.
