Burn all jump cues

I'm starting to not mind jump-cues so much as I did. After practicing hitting 100's of jump shots every morning for about a week I finally can get over a few balls and make the ball a good % of the time. Working on position with QB after the jump now and that's coming along well too. Imagine that, I needed to practice jumping instead of hating it so much.:o Johnnyt

I still think they should be banned, but that won't happen now that a lot of the tour sponsors make and sell them. Johnnyt

Way to go Johnny, I'll bet you're just jumping for joy. You probably can't wait to jump at another chance to use your jump cue. When you go to the pool hall, do you drive or just jump on a bus? I know a lot of people who would jump at the chance to jump on a bus and ride to the pool hall and practice their jump shots...oh my God, I can't stop...just jumping all over the place...damn medications...as pretty as you please, jumping, jumping, jumping___

Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Steamer will be indisposed for the next several hours, but will return later this evening. Thank you.

I stated to the forum a long time ago those that hate jumping generally cant do it. If you want to keep the game in the dark ages stay in your local haunt's. If you want to be a big name in the game you must evolve with it. Just ask players form any other professional sport.

Glad to have you on our side Johnny.:)

I jump balls when I have to and I learned and practiced jumping, but I hate jump cues and what they've done to the game. You can teach a "C" level player to jump a ball in 15 minutes, but how long will it take to master kicking with accuracy! I know jump shots are exciting to watch, but i'd prefer to see the game played like it was before jump cues were invented. Just my opinion for what it's worth......

jump cues

Ok, let me start out by saying:
- I'm not against jump cues
- I enjoy jumping and think it's an exciting part of the game
- I own a jump cue (jump/break actually)

That being said, I think jump cues should be made like real cues, should look real cues and should behave like real cues.

I am totally against these new gimmics that have come out lately that look more like a golf club shaft than a pool cue. I'm sorry, but if you want to jump over balls you should do it with skill.

YOU SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO PURCHASE A NEW SHOT.

I can jump with both my playing cue and a jump cue, but it took work to learn. This should be the norm.

I don't think jumping should be banned just modified

I think there should be a rule that only allows for jumping after the break or after an opponent's shot.

Reason:
#1. You can't control the balls on a break its random and not your fault if your hooked

#2. You can't control what your opponent does at the table if he hooks you again not your fault

But after you shoot if you hook yourself because you don't know how to shoot shape then a jump shouldn't save you.

Its bad enough the game has gotten away from the "old school" mentality
like ALL BALL FOULS, CALL EVERY SHOT (No slop) like in straight pool

So today we have cueball fouls only, Slop in a ball it counts if you make a good hit,you can jump if you can't shoot shape....Geeez whats going to be next we let women into the US Mens Open and pay them if they get through one round.

This is straying into one of those "ban jump cues/keep jump cues" threads, and it shouldn't go that direction. There are a hundred other threads discussing whether or not to ban jump cues. If that's all you have to contribute, please direct your comments to those. Johnny, kudos to your recent accomplishments. It's always fun to learn something new, and even more exciting when you start getting good at that something new. What kind of jump cue are you using?

I'm wondering what your table looked like after all those practice shots. I don't allow jump shots on my home table until the cloth needs to be replaced. Even most pool halls will give you the evil eye after a few of them shots.

I have a Pred. Air, Lucasi, Frog, and a J&J J/b cue...LOL, I told you all I was having problems jumping. I turns out I jump a lot better, and I mean a lot better with the cheap J&J J/B cue. Johnnyt

I use a 2" x 2" square of cloth under it. My cloth is like new. Well it is only weeks old lol. Johnnyt
