I don't know who makes the best tool, but I can certainly post a picture of it.

With the above tool which cost $2 and a simple tip pick no other tools are needed. These tools are the choice of cue makers world wide, and trust me if it is good enough for a cue maker it good enough for everyone.

The best part is the tool pictured costs around $2, kinda hard to beat isn't it!!!!!

Hope this helps!!!!

Here is a link to some how to videos of caring for your cue.

I carry a sandpaper and a tip pik. Nothing else as nothing else is needed. Maybe I'll switch to what manwon has posted above as many have that around here - I believe what they have is called 'Sandman' and it looks pretty much the same. The best of that is that it never gets worn in any ways.

If you think about it, what you need to do with your tip is giving it a proper shape and roughening up it's surface to hold chalk better. And the two tools mentioned above are the best for that, in my opinion.

can't say what's the best, but I wear the heck out of my Ultimate tip tool fixing everyone tips, including mine.

well, it was on the market.....The ultimate cue tip tool. When used "correctly" there is no better tool, and never wears out.

I think I might be the only one who never touches my tips. I install them myself, and don't have any sandpaper, picks, files, etc. ever touch them once they are installed. I play with snipers, but never did anything when I played with Mooris, lepros, or elk masters either.

Ditto . . .

I use the Willards nickel shaper

The Willard's Nickel profile is a great device . . . I use it along with the TipPick . . . I carry 1600 grit sandpaper and a Joe Porper Leather burnishing pad for the shaft . . . pretty much ready for anything until the tip needs replacement.

I carry the following things for Tip Maintenance

1. 220, and 180 Grit Sandpaper

2. Porper Mushroom Remover

3. Tip Taper

4. Dime Willard

I don't know if it's the best but here's a Willard's tip shaper that's been on my keychain for almost 20 years. I've been through many others but this one seems to be almost indestructible. I've used it to shape tips, open beer bottles, pry open painted shut paint can lids, open man hole covers to evade the police and many other things. It is a very versatile tool. (imo) :D

I have one of those sandmans or what it is in my case also that Manwon has shown... But that thing gets agrivating trying to shape a tip and the sand paper keeps coming out or tearing .... Wish there was some way to make it more stable where the sand paper did not move ... It seems like if I try to hold the sandpaper in place it ends up tearing ...

On the sandman I was implying on this. This is roughen in its material and hence it never gets worn, never tears because it is metal. That's what makes it so good.

Too many multi function Tip Tools do nothing well like this multi functional knife.

Lots of Blades, and Gizmo Tools, but does nothing well.
