In your opinion who are the best up and coming cue makers...

Dunno if Pat Diveney still qualifies as 'up and coming', but his output is top-shelf.

Look at the names that have moved to his cues over the past 5 years world-class and world-wide.

Mike Cochran.....

I can not believe it took until the third page of the thread for Mike to be mentioned. Anyone who has seen his amazing work or has the good fortune of owning one of his or Tim's cues knows that there is some amazing work coming out of their shop. I would put my Cochran up against any other cue maker in terms of both quality of construction and most of all playability. I have been fortunate to play with several different Scruggs and Cochrans, and find the consistency in their work to be amazing. They are both really easy to work with and make you feel like you are their first priority. Only wish I could afford to add another one to my collection... maybe one day.

Believe it. The context of the question prevented many people from mentioning him as well as a slew of other cuemakers.

Whatever category Mike Cochran is in (and it wouldn't be "up and coming"), it might be in the same category as James White and Art Cantando. That's something to think about.

I agree he is definitely not classified as up and coming, but neither are several other names mentioned. And I would agree with you on the level to classify his work. I definitely believe that both Mike and Tim are deserving of HOF and just wanted to express my 2 cents worth. I guess a thread on cuemakers who are not currently in the HOF who deserve the recognition would be a better place for my earlier response. :D

How about this guy?

Mine should be here next week!! Can't wait to try it out.

I think Wayne Holmes should be on the list. I got my first and second customs from him. They are amazing! Workmanship, playability, and customer service are all top notch. Great guy to deal with. Check out his site for examples. www.waynecustomcues.com

I'd like to think that next year or the year after, Bill Stroud and/or Richard Black would get in. Regardless of what anyone else has to say about these guys as businessmen, their work and contribution are unquestionable.

By 10 years, I'd like to see Barry Szamboti, Pete Tascarella, Ray Schuler, and Tim Scruggs in.

By 20 years, Jerry McWorter, Samsara, and Thomas Wayne.

Fred
I whole-heartedly agree with your choices and would add Joel Hercek, Dennis Searing and James White in the 20 years category.

I am a big fan of Keith Josey. I have never hit with a better cue. The feel, balance, and hit are amazing. His shafts are very low in delection. The wood, and veneers are top notch. He is a true craftsman, and a heck of a nice guy to boot.

Get your hands on a Minnesota Fats! They are up and coming, and here to stay! Look like a silky smooth pro with the finest cues out there, available at your local Wal Mart or Sports Authority.

I purchased a Steve Klein cue at Valley Forge and I could not be happier with the way it plays and his workmanship is top notch.

Another one for steve Klein.

He's getting established as we speak but I still consider James White an up and coming cue maker. I think his designs are awesome, his cues play great, and coming in off the heels of Paul Mottey is going to send him right up the ladder. I believe he's a future hall of famer.

Wondering where Kent Davis falls in the "U&C" spectrum. Dude puts together some of the most beautiful wood I've ever seen. Flawless finishes, beautiful play...

I think Budweiser is a great cue maker

My next cue will be a Kent Davis, I am very impressed with his work!

If we are going to mention names not in the top tier yet, Eddie Prewitt should be there.
His cues have their own look. Not just the usual "traditional" style and floating points cnc cues.
All his cues will be collectors' items when he quits I think.
