You do realize that the costs of materials and the labor involved is exactly the same regardless if the cue is worth 10.00 or 10,000.00.
I've put Kamui tips on cues where the tip cost more than the cue.

Wraps are cheap to buy. Since money is your issue, why not try the do it yourself thing because anyone who does a wrap for a very low price most likely does not have much for experience than thyself. There are ways to do a wrap without a fixture using tape and an angle iron to do a double cut or you can cut it free hand. If it is a cheap cue and you are just trying to get a leather feel, I am sure you can get something acceptable but not perfect. Who knows, you could surprise yourself.
Seriously, anyone you does a wrap change out from linen may have to deepen the groove and when you do there is a chance that you can screw up the finish in that transition. This is no problem for someone who is seasoned, confident and experienced. These type of people need to get paid for their time because they have paid their dues for years.
You will get what you pay for.

May I suggest you find someone local. That way you can check out their work. Might save money not having to ship, both ways. And you help out the local economy. Besides, check out some of the threads where cues were shipped for repairs and never returned.

I hope no self-respecting maker/repair person bids under $100 plus shipping.
If $100 is average cost, he should find a local guy who charges that to do it. I know of cuemakers charging as little as $60 to $80, but $15 each way on shipping adds up to $90 to $110 and I can't vouch for their quality.
Lets see, I can try to be low bidder to recut a wrap valley and install an unspecified leather on a cue the owner does not deem worthy of putting the money into.
Due to past experiance in life no matter how good a job I would do it would be flawed and the object would become a family heirlom.
Almost forgot the best part, it gets lost for a few days shipping in above 100 degree area, warps and they find it when a forklift runs over it. Than it becomes one of 2 secretly made Bushkas deemed priceless.
Is $15.00, I drive from Florida and back again out of line?

You could buy a wrap jig from Unique for $400. Do it yourself and when you get good at it, install a few others and pay for the jig and your wrap.
You get a free wrap. Thats what the rest of us do.

You deserve $100 for the quality work you do.
You won't lose any revenue over the $25 increase.

As an observer I can understand how bidding jobs could get out of hand here. But that would maybe be for making cues or "non-standard" kind of work. For the standard stuff, those prices are easily found on the web sites of the various makers and repair men.
Since I don't offer such services I am not familiar with the rules here about that. I have seen comments about it being against the rules though, that's all. I can only guess that it is to prevent things degrading here to a kind of bidding war....keeping it friendlier.
Anyway....just the thoughts of an observer. Ryan's reputation is without question I think.

First, I didn't start this thread to create chaos.
I am sure that all of you guys are fine makers. My purpose was to find someone to do the job cheaper.
I did realize tho, that is better for me to push the limits and try to do this myself. You were part of this decision and I thank you for this.
