International Open

2 questions:

Anyone know when they began racking the 2b at the rear at this event?

Also, any idea on why Kaci didn't play?

You are correct sir. I had a senior moment! Not the first. Unfortunately not likely to be the last. Someone float me out on a chunk of ice!

I wonder how an average TPA of all the games that gave the Fargorate would look though.

Would you be a 1000 Fargo if you always shot a 1 tpa? Maybe

By "this event" I imagine you mean to include the US Open 9-Ball Championship as well.

My stats threads back through 2011 all indicate that the 2-ball had to be racked in back. How far back that requirement goes beyond 2011 I do not know.

Given what the players now know about breaking the 9-ball rack with the 9-ball on the foot spot, I think always racking the 2-ball in back is a bad idea.

I'd bet a lot of money that the average teacher makes more than the average pro pool player.

Most pro pool players in US will either work until they die after their game is gone at Walmart or end up drawing some type of income-based assistance.

Pro pool players don't make enough to save enough.

Only the top few will live comfortable and some of them won't if they didn't invest wisely. The rest below them, well, it dosen't matter cause they didn't make enough to invest and still pay their current living expenses.

When it comes to compensation, our sport sucks.

2 ball behind the rack is good. It is hardest spot to control if you make the 1-ball. Many times it will double kiss to end rail..

a number of the players were making the one ball and controlling the 2 ball very well getting it to go 3 rails and land very close to the side pocket opposite the side they broke from.

The sport sucks because other than a very few even consider it a sport and it has little entertainment value to the general public , call me one of them , even if you do consider it one it's well down the list behind NFL , NBA , MLB , PGA ,NHL for starters , then you got things that transcend to hobbies , Auto Motorcycle racing , Fishing , and to your back yard cookout, corn hole ,,
There is only so much money to go around from the big sponsors its clear they are not interested, however it's trending up and if gambling becomes a part of it here that will bring in more sponsorship, something I believe Match Room is betting on ,
That will never bring it to the other sports levels but it will certainly be a big improvement

Just how many pros in your opinion should be making a 6 figure income annually? Keep in mind, are we talking about the best in the world, or just the US Pros???

Guess what, paramutual wagering is NOT allowed if the pool events take place IN a casino, and players CANNOT know what's being bet on them as well. So, what's that about gambling again bringing in sponsors???

I caught on to that after the third time in a row that Lechner had a simple shot to the side on the 2 ball. Once he was stuck for a shot after the break because the 2 fell in the side on three rails.

The 2 racked in back seems to be a problem but what is the solution?

It's called Ten Ball.

Random rack every ball except the one and nine.

I like the 2 in the back, coz it generally has a lot of movement and gets some separation.

For me, 9b/10b often involve an early Harrigan or 3., so if the ball is loose, I feel like I can get to a workable position.

My game looks a lot like Shaw's final rack at the int'l. Seriously.

Well, Bergman made an extra $15k minimum at the Int. Open

And Corey or Max lost a min $15,000 at the Open. That's a helluva entry fee.

I agree.

Make a way for gambling to be out in open and it will help.

How about the American pool players raise their level of play in order to compete against the international field of players that are winning most of the tournament prize money! If they're willing to improve their skills, what's stopping the American pros from doing the same? Or maybe, just maybe, America only has one Pro willing the put in the hours of practice required while the rest just EXPECT to be able to win BECAUSE they're American. Or, better yet, just ban all foriegn players from competing on American soil, then the Pros here can win all the tournament money SVB leaves on the table!!
