It seems shane is the only one with the money and talent to play big sets. I was just wondering if there are other Americans trying to?

I match up with Filipinos all the time. Of course, they also live here in town.

The last two years the most active American (yes, Canada is part of North America) has been John Morra. He has spent months at a time in the Philippines, playing almost every day. His game has come up quite a bit as a result of this, evidenced by his recent showing at DCC, winning the Banks over Shane and 400 others!

As for me I ALWAYS play when I'm over there, but the games tend to be small stakes (100p to 1000p per game) and against local players who none of you have ever heard of. There are gobs of shortstops over there as well, and they all like to gamble.

What seems to be their favorite shaft/tip combo these days? If you don't mind me asking...thanks

I've never really checked that close or inquired of anyone. Their equipment appears very similar to ours in terms of cue weight and length, shaft diameter etc. I think the tips they use are the same ones we see being used by players over here; Triangle, Kamui, Elk Master etc. Pretty much runs the gamut.

Chris bartram has matched up with the pinoys multiple times playing big sets. Orcollo, alcano, Alex, kiamco and others he's played. I've played kiamco, orcollo and gomez. I'm ready to do it again- make the game right and I'll play right now.

Who W O N T play if they get staked?...lol. The question is; who will you play on YOUR money?
To be continued.................

Good luck Donny, hope you get that game and hope you win. Can you give us the details of the three times you matched up with the pinoys. Hope you are 3-0

Nobody plays Bustamonte race to 30+ for the cash

Nobody plays Bustamonte race to 30+ for the cash. From the DCC I can honestly say he's the top 9ball/10 ball player on the planet...period.

Hmm on my money? Well i work for a living so like most americans im one paycheck away from being homeless so like i said i will play any human or pinoy as long as im getting staked. Thats my position.

Definately The Grim Reaper of 9/10 Ball! 2 yrs ago @ DCC FB played a great Pro player that everyone says he's the top money player in our country. He had backers with lots of $. Games was set for $5K FB gave him the 7B and before they started FB stared at him eye to eye and I looked over at the opponent and right then and there I knew he was a deadman already! It was all over his face.

The Grim Reaper was hitting 5 rail positions and nutting 8ft power shots center pockets -like they were 5 inch close. His 7ft razor slices down the rail were not rubbing a rail! His speed is 2 notches up from his tournament plays. Amazing to watch! Total control of the table, balls, pockets and rails like they all work for him and what the boss says they do!

After the second set the player quit. His backers said "One more" a chance to win one back he said no. He wanted no more pain! I would be too after getting the 7 ball and FB shootin No Mercy! It was like cancer on him slow death... I'm sure he would've rather die in a car accident than be tortured to shame... He met the Grim Reaper!

Can you imagine what it was like for the Germans in the 90s to get beaten by Bustamante spotting them 4-6 games in races to 11 or 13?

These were all run out players, national class, and Busty spanked them. If he lost a set he would jsut flip it and outrun the nuts the next two or three sets.

I watched him win 17 games in a row where he either ran out or played a lock up safe. The guy had simply NO CHANCE and he knew it.

Busty could hit you with so many racks getting out from seemingly impossible positions that it would put the opponent into a coma. Imagine getting a 6 game spot going to 13 and your opponent runs six out of the gate?
