Is anyone paying attention?

Hi,

If you consider the name of the Forum Catagory "Ask the Cue Maker" it might suggest that this is place to get info from cue makers. I know that I read and post here to gain and share knowledge.

Maybe the highly experienced people don't want to play in this sandbox, don't have any questions to ask, or don't want to share acquired knowledge. Lets face it, you never see the high end/high buck guys here ever.

Who knows?

Rick G

Dave's been known to get a buck or two for a cue........

Dave, please point out exactly where I made it clear that I didn't care and could care less (isn't that the same thing?) about anyone except for the brown nosers?

Could you also point out when you ever notified me of anything needing attention in this area? When a PM or email was sent? I am not hard to find.

I am not a cuemaker and I don't read all of the threads in this area. But a simple notification that there is a problem will get my attention.

I run this forum for the users of this site. For the fans, players, room owners, tournament directors, cue makers, cue collectors and everyone else. And when the users of this forum come to me with a request or a suggestion, I consider it and if I agree that it is a good idea then I implement it for them.

But talking amongst yourselves about an idea, never bringing it to my attention and then complaining that no one cares about you is a little ridiculous.

If cuemakers want a private forum, all they have to do is ask for it. Hell, if APA players want a private forum, all they have to do is ask for it.

I have ran this site for twelve years and am very proud of what it has become. I spend a LOT of time maintaining it and I get sick of the "No one cares about me, this is all a dictatorship, we are being censored" crap. And the vast majority of the time, these complaints come from people who never once contacted me about an issue.

Is it just easier to complain than try to help fix a problem?

Mike

It was made perfectly clear sometime back that the owners/mods on this board don't care and could care less about anyone but a few with a nose buried brown deep. It really is sad but they are the ones that have made it this way and could really care less if this section existed or not. It has never changed but for the worse since I've been here. The Army has a private section for builders only and is the right way to go. You have to ask 2B1 in this section. No riff raff...no monitors allowed.
It's policed by it's members...the way it should be.

Kudos to you sir, all your effort was highly appreciated. i understand the time and your position as the mods of this site. Maybe its just a litte misunderstanding. I know Dave will make it clear everything on his side.
Bottomline is that, this site has a big role in the industry and i'm pretty sure that no one will allow to distract our status what we have on this magnificient site.
I do hope everything will be clear and let's all move on. Lets help one another to make this site be on top.

More powers to all,
Al

My original post was meant to be rhetorical but I am not surprised by the answers.

Mike, I did Pm you about this thread, asking your opinion. I received no reply. Nothing ever came from it. It seems that the majority felt a positive change was needed. Nothing happened.

Maybe more communication is needed. Maybe more Mods. I don't know what the answer is. I'm not going to leave or cry. I'm just not really posting anymore. That makes me sad.:frown:

You are absolutely correct. I had to go digging in my old PMs and you did send me a note on that thread. I just took a look at it and it seems like changing Cue Machinery to Cue Machinery/Supplies is what the majority wanted. I can certainly do that.

I also noticed in that thread a lot of person A saying that no one cared about cue makers and they had asked many times in the past for changes but were told no. That prompted five guys afterwards to ask why cue makers were being given the short end of the stick and it would only take 5 minutes to do it. These five guys just took person A on his word as the "knower of all information" when it came to the forums.

Let me make this perfectly clear. I have never refused to set up new sub-forums if the majority of the users wanted them. I won't set one up when a random user sends me a note asking for it. And I won't set one up if someone starts a thread asking for one and the majority of the users disagree with the idea. But if the majority of the users agree that a new subforum would make things easier, then I certainly have the 5 minutes to set it up.

I have never said that there are too many subforums (although many users have) and I have never said that I don't care about cue makers.

Observation:

Hi,

Truth, Knowledge, and Enlightenment is achieved only when one bans themselves from ego.

No one is bending anybody's arm to participate in any discussions on AZ. Add to the fact that it is free, why would anyone have any basis for complaints.

Anyone who is troubled by others who post here (for any reason) should mind their own business by refraining from criticism. If you have an argument with a person's statement or portrayal of an issue, it should be done in a respectful manner or not done at all. That is common courtesy.

Remember this is the www and the whole world could be watching. Every time you post here, people have a chance to judge your character and quality of your being.

If you are a cue maker or cue repair person who is selling their product or services to the world, it is wise to project a positive image at all times in all situations. You never know who is watching. Not to do it that way makes no sense and is counter productive to success.

Just my opinion.

Mike,

That's GREAT news that you are listening in.

THANKS

Cuemakers site

BLACKHEARTCUES; I would be happy to recommend any new "CUE MAKER" to the privae cue makers site said:
I keep hearing about this site for Cue Makers only. What is the URL??????

I can't recall the thread, but there was much talk about the "for sale" stuff posted here a while back. Several people asked about modifying the machinery forum to include supplies then, too.
Good move, I think it will make things better for those that were bothered by the ads in the cuemaker forum.

It's there, I just looked. You probably need to talk to Jimbo to be able to see it though. It's private, and if a mod doesn't put your username in a list, you wont see it.

I don't believe that is the one Mike is talking about. There are two different forums that I know of, maybe more. On one the moderator takes care of it and let's in who he wants by invitation. The other one, members who believe someone can make a difference are nominated and if all agree he is given an invitation. I believe on both forums most, if not all members make their living building cues. There are no novices on either group and all know how to build a cue. Neither forum is for training cue makers. There are no easy questions asked nor answered on either forum. There are never any arguments as everyone knows that who ever responds to the question is knowledgeable and is not just giving a unsubstantiated opinion. There are, by the way, a couple of better known cue makers on those forums, who, as far as I know of, have never participated on this forum. As far as Jimbo, I don't believe he has anything to do with either forum as he is not a member of either.
