Is Head Apparel Allowed in YOUR local Pool Room

There are, or at least were, some Pool Rooms in the greater NYC area where Hats/Caps of any kind were not allowed, AND, the rule was strictly enforced.
I'm thinking it was a gang related thing, but I'm not sure.
Anyway, is this a rule or an issue any place else in the US? -Z-

Nobody cares around here.

However, I can see how the room owners may attempt to thwart thefts and/or robberies by enforcing this rule. At least it may make it easier to record faces for the benefit of law enforcement.

Maybe trying to appeal to a more upscale demographic?

Maybe the room owner just hates bandanas?

What did they say when you asked them why they have this rule?

Everyone here would have been asked to leave. Not too good for business!

One thing that was clearly banned - women. There is a poll hall in Columbia MO which dates to the 1880's and for the first 80 or 90 years women were prohibited. Now it is more of a restaurant with pool tables than a pool hall but they do still have the old Balke Collender tables.

I saw a guy get ejected from the pool room at a tournament coz he wouldt take his rasta covepr off. He made a big deal about his religious right to maintain it.

It didn't help.

are you talking about booches?

I've not been in a pool room where there was any official dress code. Baseball hats are very common everywhere.

I've seen no du rags allowed, but never a ban on hats.

Its got to be Booches on 9th Street. Only played there a few times in the late 90's early 00'. I was a solid player grew up playing but because I was a College kid they gave me the cold shoulder. Definitely a good old boy feel in that hall.

Played nearly every day at 9th Street billiards which is no longer.

Dress Code:The pool hall I worked at in STL for a few years had a no bandana dress code. No body seemed to mind all that much. You could still where caps but most guys with the bandana under the cap would take off both and put them in the car. When you pay $50+ for a started cap you want to protect it from sweat with a bandana I guess.

Here in the People's Republik of Kalifornia, you are encouraged to wear Ball Caps
inside All buildings ... but they Must be worn Sideways or Backwards.

Mr Cues II in ATL has a "No Do-Rags" policy. Tank top shirts and sagging pants are not allowed either.

Baseball hats are OK, but anytime I wear one, my game goes down at least two balls.
