Is J. Ber?gman #1 Young Player Now

what about Wang Can? he's 19

I think Bergman is a no brainer for the mosconi cup team.

Wang Can just turned 20. Bergman for the Mosconi is a great idea!

I would rather watch Sky, Bergman, & J. Hall take a shot at it, than watch Rodney Morris, Dennis Hatch, and Johnny Archer get beat on.

If Bergman is 26 I believe that is the same age as Mike Dechaine. As much as I might not like MD I am sorry I would put my money on Dechaine all day any day on the 9 footer.

It all boils down to how young do we want to call young?
Of the names brought up in this thread, so far:

19 years old
Landon Shuffet

20 years old
Wang Can
Skylar Woodward

24 years old
Ko Pin Yi

26 years old
Mike DeChaine
Justin Bergman
Justin Hall

30 years old
Shane Van Boening
Carlo Biado

Jason shaw is a yr younger than MD. I like shaw in a long race over md.

Might be the best rivalry going right now. Jayson won their TAR match but Mike has won more of the head to head meetings in regional competition.

Either way, Jayson is clearly in the discussion for best young player. Not sure why I didn't think of him. Aother fine young European player is Dominic Jentsch of Germany, who is about 24.

Still, if we're picking just one, I'm thinking Ko Pin Yi is the best young player in the world right now.

Shocked to learn that Biado is 30 ---- he looks so young.

I remember a few years back when Justin was warming up to play Tony Chohan a 9 ball set for the cash. I had never seen Justin play before, and wasn't really impressed with his game during warmup. Little did I know they were just getting the rail right. I dont think for the entire set, that Justin missed a single ball that he was attempting to make. Def made be a believer that day. Final score was a blow out, if I recall correctly it was like 13-3 or 13-4

In rotation pool games, I like Mike, but in an all-around Justin would be a clear favorite.

I'd agree with Justin being a favorite for the all-around, but it still goes back to my question: How young is young? I can only imagine what Skylar Woodward will be capable of at 26 years old and that will be in the year 2020!!! lol

I'd pick Ko over MD in rotation games, but I'd pick Mike if he's on his own turf.

I'll agree that we will all see young differently. I'm in the under 25 category and view myself as young. People in their 40's will view 30 as young, same for people in their 70's will view 50 as young.

I could not agree more. And I was only talking US. I do think Pin Yi Ko is the best young player as well. I think Shaw has the edge of MD with Sklyar close to dominating soon.

Exactly.Dechaine at his highest gear beats the world. Hate all you like, the man is a true monster.

Jayson has a great game. Still plays a few too many tough shots over safes and his mental game isnt just right. Let him win a few big events and he will take off. I wish he and Dechaine would play a long race. I woukd bet high on Mike.

Agree with this. JS would be a monster if he learned when to swing for the fences and when to play safe.

How would Skylar and Landon match up?? How old is Landon?

They played several times in the past.

Landon had Skyler's number for a while. I think Landon was a little older, and Skyler hadn't hit full stride yet. This was several years ago.

I think it would be an awesome matchup now.

Both great guys, polite, respectful, and could really be the face of pool for a great number of years.

Best young player cuz he won smokin aces then beat Henessee gambling? Let's be real, if this was before hennessee's accident Bergman wouldn't of played.

Justin

He has had some great finishes and some wins before hard times. He won a 160 man field at Smokin aces last year full of killers. He also won a few tournaments travelling with team high pockets. Last summer he defeated some big names including Archer at the Ultimate 10 ball. He prob does not have the break to compete fully at rotation pool just yet with the top couple guys. On the way though.

I think Landon's interest in pool may be dwindling.

I'll get ahold of two people not even mentioned in this thread....John Morra and Oscar Dominguez. They will take the 7 ball from Skylar, Dechaine and Bergman.

Billy Thorpe is what, 17 -- line them up to play him banks as well.

Wu is still only 25, I believe. He's been around forever and accomplished as much as anybody can accomplish, but still not yet at the age at which pool players tend to peak...

How many days in a row would he have to beat Henney before you realize Justin is just playing better?? Pretty lame to say what would have happened before his accident because nobody knows and you are just posing your opinion. Anytime Henney wants to play I am sure Justin will play for any amount

Billy Thorpe is like 21+.
