is this a TIM SCRUGGS ???????????

Hey

I had a long conversation with Tim. he looked at the pics, and definitely identified it as one of his cues. he couldn't pin it down to any specific year, but figured it was between 1970 and 1979. he said that during that time frame him and Mr Frey were cranking out a lot of these design cues.
Thanks for all the input.

That surprised me. I never would have guessed it. That is a sweet old cue. I would say a 1970 with the way the bumper is rotted. Sweet pickup. Where did you get it? Some have all the luck. Take care.

a scruggs like that is a dandy

there are probably many on here who would love that cue
cherish it

steve

why don't you sell it and make someone happy

it is really not your style is it

have some fun,share

Hey

My guess is an early Tascarella.
Those points were either built by him or he relative that used to do them 20+ years ago.
I've seen at least 5 of the old forearms, and this is identical.
PLUS, the rest of it looks like a Tasc.

chris<--------loves it, wants it.......PM a price if for sale

Chris, it comes with two original shafts.

Hay Deano!

i don't know what people mean when they say the pin looks like gus
i have owned around 50 bushkas and it reminds me of them
i have had more scruggs and it might be tim too

it looks like a nice old cue for sure
but i was under the opinion that you were shying away from the older cues

so why not send the cue to me
i love these older classics

Ditto!
Nick :)

Old Green Plastic dead match. Also a match with their gold plastic.
Veneers dead match.
Tim did unlogoed Cues in 1978.
Is it 58 inches long? And what is the weight. It should be heavy.

And one I bought from you Steve, the razorblade Cue.

Are you saying those two green acrylics are a dead match (the cue you posted and the cue in question)? If so, that is not correct.
The green and gold acrylic bands in the old cue in question was acrylic made for Palmer. Balabushka used it extensively too, and a small handful of others (Bill Schick on a few cues for instance); probably having got it from Palmer or the same source Palmer had make it. The cue you posted is green acrylic with pearlescent swirls in it (still available today).
Actually most Scruggs tribute cues used pearlescent plastics and not the stuff that was made for Palmer cue company (which the cue in question has in it. You can also see the gold bands in the cue Shadowmoss posted has swirls in it as well.

Below is the original stuff like used in the cue Steve has posted. And as you see, it has no pearl swirls in it of any kind.

It is actually the coolest plastic I have seen. It almost glows and is mirror like (especially outside of a cue). Sort of like metallic red, gold, mint green foil.
I think Steve himself could verify that for you by taking a look at his original Balabushka's that has the same plastic in them. They have no pearl swirls in the material.
And I think Steve also has a Bushka with gold bands. I will bet they look just like the ones in this old cue.

Am I crazy or just finally losing my vision???

The 'green' ring in Tikkler's cue (which is sweet, btw) looks greyish to me. Am i going blind???

Computer monitors can do that to ya. The stuff is pretty reflective so lighting changes the colors of the stuff too... You can tell in the pic of the blue ringed cue (I think Steve owns now) how reflective the stuff is.

Here is examples of the colors from Balabuska's. And as you can see, there is no swirls or pearl in them.

Top left pic bottom ring......almost identical to that, it's sort of a gold color. I am thinking it might really be a Tascarella. going to give Pete a call
Thanks for all the help

Pete can also tell you how rare and nice that plastic is that Bushka and a few others used.
But I am not debating Tim or anyone making it, I was just debating that it is the same plastic Bushka and a small list of others has used. Tim may have had a little of it back in the day.
The only thing that throws me way off is the large gaps at the base of the points. Sort of odd for most cue makers I believe.

Now you know why I asked how much..... Those really look like "Cannon" points, and the rest looks Tascarella. I was going to send Pete pics the other day, and forgot.
