It took me awhile

I am done with AZBilliards. This place was fun while it lasted. Good bye to all my friends on here. I will check this thread for reminence of my old friends on here. I don't expect much of a turnout as this is one of the most unfriendly places somone could ever be...

One more thing this web site is a great idea! Way to much negativity, but it is a great idea.

I know that I have not always been the beacon of positivity, I am not trying to throw stones at anyone, if you feel that this is directed towards you then you are vain. I am not even thinking of anyone while I write this.

I hope AZB stays around for many years, it is however not helping pool. It in fact hurts it, as all anyone could gather from this website is that no one here likes big money sponsor's, and the people on the internet pool forums know more than Earl Strickland and Efren combined.

Jamison...

It was good to meet you at the expo. You're a cool guy!! Ya know, if i never met you face to face, I'm not sure what I would think. Why quit azb if you still intend to read it?

Don't be another cuejunky and commit azb suicide.

What, have you been hanging around in NPR too much? :D

In all honesty I know my reputation on this forum is hanging on by a thread or have none left as it is however I have to disagree that this site could be hurting pool. This incredible mecca for all things pool can only help in my opinion and has been such an incredible resource. I completely agree that some of the people can be a little ridiculous im not naming names as im sure you guys would name me lol if you were going to name names. All in all though I have found that for the most part the people on this site are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. I cant for the life of me figure out why you would want to leave this site. Mike has done an incredible job and I would probably go through heroin style withdrawel if I couldnt be on here anymore. I remember when this site was down i was clicking refresh every two seconds lol.

All in all man why not stay and try and change it or try and make it a better place.

Just my .02.

Charlie

You think this forum is bad? LoL

Try going onto a Honda/JDM forum and tell people that you own a muscle car....Then you will see real negativity.

Unless you live in candyland, there is always negitivity, its a fact of live.

Learn to deal with it, work with it, rise above it, be the positive that changes it...

I followed pool through magazines, TV, and aside from the occasional local tourtnament, that was it. I had ZERO interest in artistic pool, saw it on TV, just not my cup of tea. I started reading these forums, and that is where I first heard about you! I even did some research and saw your accomplishments, which would have been impressive, except the reason I heard about you was in the brilliant thread about needing investors for a video. That pretty much stayed with me every time I saw your postings, and unfortunately killed any notion of credibility, and could possibly be why you experience more negativity than others. I laugh a lot when I read postings on here, if I want negativity I will read the news.

Good luck in your future endeavors,

MahnaMahna

I have no idea who you are, but I wish you would just stick around and be part of this place. There are always two sides to everything and by looking at the better side makes it much easier. Don't let the negativity get to you, but let the positive things keep you here.

I have to strongly disagree. I use to be a huge JDM guy and pretty popular at the 240sx forums and when I purchased my 1970 442 and showed back up about a year or so later, everyone welcomed me and praised the nice car. Those guys aren't really prejudice towards muscle cars, they are car enthusiast, very much like us here, we are billiard enthusiasts but a certain few opinionated bad apples make the rest look really bad. Just want to clear that up. No harm done.

Hmmm. Not very well judged, in my opinion. Here's what some get out of this forum:

Professional players and aspiring professionals
John Schmidt found himself a sponsor for the US Open 9-ball event on this forum. Sarah Rousey financed her trip to the upcoming World 10-ball Championships by petitioning the membership for financing here. AZB makes people more aware of the tournament scene, men's and women's, American and overseas. AZB helps people gauge what steps must be taken to turn pro.

Serious Players
Many enjoy sharing shots and situations from their own games or from events they have attended. Everyone learns form these threads. Also, many have used this forum to arrange games with players form other cities.

Retired Pro and road players
Many enjoy sharing the memories and stories of their days as a serious player, and most in these parts enjoy those stories.

Pool Instructors and Pool Students
Instructors get value from this forum by sharing their itineraries, availability, and they recruit students for some of their pool schools here. Pool students enjoy sharing their positive experiences with instructors with other forum members, which surely generates more business for those instructors.

Room Proprietors
Current or would-be room proprietors get value here by sharing issues with others like themselves and gaining valuable insights into how to start, maintain, or improve a poolroom.

Fans of the Game
Many fans are able to determine who is going to upcoming tournaments. This leads to sharing travel expenses that is sometimes the difference between being able to go to a tournament and not being able to do so. I was only able to go to Valley Forge this year because a fellow poster, whose roomate bailed out late on him, inquired whether anybody required accommodations.

In addition, a) equipment gurus, b) sponsors of the game, c) tournament organizers, d) benefactors of the game, e) new players getting excited about pool, f) game theorists, g) pool nostalgists, and h) American, European, and Asian pool enthusiasts get value here, too.

If the forum hasn't been good for you, that's a shame, but it is and always has been good for pool in so many ways. Anyway, Jamison, wishing you well in all your pursuits.

Jeez I hate to post after Stu's GREAT POST!!

Jamison, why all the drama? If you want to leave then leave without insulting everyone here. The fact is that this is reality and if you want to participate then it has to be in a real way. If you post nonsense, even if you think it makes perfect sense, then someone is going to call you on it.

We are all here because we love the game enough to spend hours each day reading about it and discussing it. We love the pros too but not enough to allow them to post BS.

There is a way to "market" yourself on AZ and gather lots and lots of support from the legions of fans here. This is also a very quick way to commit marketing suicide and ensure that your support is limited at best.

The AZB community rallies around people that become a part of the community. People that come here only to use the site without contributing are not so well received. If they have a condescending smug attitude then more the worse.

This is the power of the internet and having a voice that is not regulated or censored. How you use that voice is up to you. It's a sure thing that whatever voice you use will be echoed back by other users.

I am sure that a lot of pros read this forum and don't post because they fear getting attacked. I can say with just about 100% certainty that if they are not provacative they don't get attacked. Now it's reaaallllyyyy hard to hold your words back when someone says something that you don't agree with. We are all people after all who are formed by our upbringing and character. BUT as a professional it has to be part of the JOB to be remain above the fray OR accept the consequence that joining in arguments strips away the veneer of respect and deference that comes with achieving pro-class.

This site is one of the pillars of the pool community and lasting friendships have formed here. The tone of the site has changed over the years but it's essentially one of the top pool forums in the world and as such an important part of the pool world.

I don't think you should leave but instead should think about how you become the kind of member of this community that people can look up to. You can share your immense knowledge of artistic pool through CueTable postings and discussion. You could hook up with other members and give clinics. There are a lot of ways you could personally benefit from AZ while being beneficial to AZ.

We have talked about this before in other contexts. Half of the job is being a great player. You have that half down cold. Most people never get that far. Now you have to work on the "business" side of it. You have thousands of customers right here on AZ Billiards, you just need to learn how to reach them.

I have never met you, but I've been here on AZB for about nine months and found this board to be supportive and informative.

Naming names, when Jay Helfert asked for suggestions how to help Ming Ng when the opportunity to get back on the women's tour circuit, people like John Barton stepped up to the plate.

On AZB NPR, people here are mature, polite, and topics tamed compared to the off topic sections on the JDM/car boards. Here, we share pictures of our cues or pool tables, there, pictures of their girlfriend in compromising poses. Over here last night's conquest refers to APA or league match, on the car boards refer to beating a honda civic (usually in a school zone) or a girl met at bar (likely hooters).

What, have you been hanging around in NPR too much? :D

I respectfully strongly disagree with everything in your post.

This forum could be absolutely huge in a few years if the right steps are taken by the right people in pool. It has helped me tremendously and you have knowledgeable players right here whenever you have ANY question.

This is FAR from an immature board. Go check out bodybuilding.com's forum and you will see what I mean. If you posted this same thread there, they'd tell you to go cry a f*cking river.

Only the greatest people reside here............

Besides the few nut jobs.......and every forum has them, just about everyone that posts here is a person to be respected and cared for. I have witnessed a few miracles in the three years I have been a member. It seems whenever a member is down on their luck or down in the dumps, the great members of this forum rally around the person in need and give their support either with paypal donations or moral support. I'm posting an e-bay ad for my friend Jimmy Reid in the wanted for sale forum as Jimmy is a retired pro that is in severly poor health from cancer and is in need of help. The gracious members of these wonderful forums have bought his dvds and also sent money to Jimmy's paypal account without asking for anything in return. To me this is like a world-wide close knit family that I would gladly walk in front of a train to save. Bless all of you that read this.

OK OK OK I can't let this go on anymore

I had to test my theory...I wanted to see if my negative thread would get more attention than most my other posts...I was right.

I hope you all know I was joshing, I don't think this place is bad for pool.

I think I need a element of negativity to attract people.

I noticed this before I just assumed I was right... I even spoke with spiderweb about this test at Valley Forge, you still fell for it...;) You remember now don't you...

I had to know if my theory was correct. Sorry I used you all, and sorry I waisted your time.

This was only a test and no your not rid of me yet...

No apology needed, Jamison. I ejoyed the opportunity to take a step back and think about and share the many reasons I love AZB and why it is good for pool.

Good for you JamisonNeu (kind of rhymes) just about the time I think I heard it all something new rolls along. I don't mind being a subject, it's sort of like Forest Whitaker in the Color of Money.

Your 1st post should be the Add for why AZB rocks so much.

You ever hear the expression "Once you find yourself in a hole the first thing you should do is stop digging" ?

I didn't think so.

The people on this board have the ability to help you make a living at doing something you love if you treat them right and act responsibly. I know this from experience. The opportunities presented to me and my partners because of this place have changed my life. For someone who claims to want to make a living and grow in this industry you sure do have a funny way of going about it.

Take me for example. If Andy Segal, Tom Rossman or Mike Massey asked if he could come on and do something at the Derby with an online audience of 800 to 1000 people watching or asked TAR to help promote something they were doing we would be glad to do it if at all possible. You see they are PROFESSIONALS and carry themselves as such.

Based on your behavior here we would not extend you the same courtesy. Now this probably doesn't matter at all to you and it isn't that big of a deal but it does prove my point. Instead of opening a door for yourself by your conduct on this board you have closed one. There are much bigger doors that I think you are closing for yourself. I really think you underestimate the power this place has for someone trying to grow in the industry.

You guys did try to film me shooting allready, I showed up both times on time and you did not. I really tried not to bring this up I even PM one of you TAR guys to give you a chance to say sorry...you need to get off me.

Who is a pro the guy who does what he says, or the guy that just keeps on talking? Two in a row you let me down and waisted my time and money.

Then instead of appologizing for waisting my time twice in a row, you tell me I'm not acting up to your standards. Lol You don't need to say sorry you radiate sorry, don't you?

Please whatever your name is tell me how I can be as perfect as you.

What you are doing to your reputation by attacking me?

Lets just say your fired for being a no show two days in a row.

I do care about my reputation more than you think. I show up to my appointments on time.. Then I don't throw stones inside my glass house.

I am no begger and help is not what I am after by posting here. Good luck whatever your name is.
