Jack and Jill went up the hill ...

I invested in the 50th anniversary Texas Open stream to catch the one-pocket action. But while I was channel-surfing, I came across the finals of the Scotch doubles. Sky Woodward and Billy Thorpe each had a talented female partner.

But I found myself rooting for Sky’s gal, a petite gamin who looked about 8-years old. I got such a kick out of her — she reminded me of Joshua Filler in that when it was her turn, she rushed to the table, like she couldn’t wait to shoot. Savannah Easton, that’s her name.

One of the commentators said that she was playing so much better in the finals because she’d just had something to eat, and that recharged her batteries.

What a treat to watch!

Her facebook page has one of the earlier matches. Looks like they weren't allowed to do the streamed tables.

I really enjoy watching Savannah play. Saw her about a year ago on YouTube playing. She really is going to be a great player ! She actually has her own YouTube channel I follow. Usually live streams her matches !

Savannah aka the roadrunner did a recent match in vegas that we streamed remotely on the Yale sharkstream.

She was playing a challenge match against yale billiards owner, bobby Hilton who is 6’ 6” and over 300 lbs. it was quite s spectacle and he just couldn’t get his game going. Savannah won 9-3.

Savannah is a real breath of fresh air, has a very sweet personality and is becoming quite the pool player. She is apparently also an expert at branding and getting publicity for herself which l think is a generational thing. She has a long list of sponsors and fans rooting her on.

I’m def one of them.

She’s fun to watch. Enthusiasm to play (or for anything for that matter) is always welcome!

It would be a fun story if she and 7 year old Alex meet at an international competition some day and eventually become a power pool couple. Ha ha:)

Her nickname is the roadrunner for a reason. Sometimes it looks like she is running around the table. So much energy. I think she is 13 now. She travels all over. I think she was in the hot seat of the ladies event here in february.

Thorpe's partner was Kim Sanders. She is the owner of Skinny Bob's, where this event was held, along with her husband.

Unfortunately arguably the pre-tournament favorites (Superman and GirlWon1) had to pull out.

Great story about another future pool champion in the making. Love to watch the younger people playing pool. I have played some of them in the past and they are gracious when the lose and respectfully exhuberant when they win.

I give Ra Hanna cudos for all he has done for the junior players along with Predator and all the others that are involved.

When I began playing in 66 there were no girls allowed into the pool hall and the rails all had cigarette burns on them. The smoke was so thick it’s a wonder I do not have lung cancer.

Times have changed for the better and I am thrilled to be here, still playing and witnessing the next generation of pool players emerge!
