Jaden is out of commission.....

Sorry to hear it but don't feel too bad. My man Carl Edwards broke his foot playing frisbee. He drives a car 200 mph for a living and got hurt playing frisbee.

Hope it heals up quickly for you.

I went to the community pool today an slipped off the diving board and ruptured the tendon that attaches from my lower leg to the knee cap. It completely seperated and is somewhere in my lower leg. My knee cap has now become a floater.

I have to have surgery on Tuday.

I don't know where I put this thread as I am on lots of vicadin right now, so if it's wrong feel free to move it Mike..

The doctors say that it will eventuallybe back to 100% though...

Bummer! Hope you can make it to Hard Times to sweat the Oscar/Morra match.

Here's an update....

Ok what happened was that as I was on the diving board with the diving board at full flex, my right foot slipped off the diving board.

Since my legs were locked straight, all of the force of the fully flexed diving board forced my left leg to bend.

This in turn literally ripped the tendon from my patella (knee cap). The tension in my leg pulled my patella up into my thigh area and my tendon went somewhere in my shin area.

There were no fractures and limited contusions where the diving board smacked my lower shin.

The surgery is scheduled for Monday morning, I show up at 11:30.

They're going to cut open my knee, drill a hole in the patella and suture my tendon back on to the patella.

This is not like an ACL tear. Often times, this type of injury heals stronger than it was originally. I've had problems with that knee since I was in the Navy so hopefully this will fix that issue.

I will have to keep my leg straight for six to eight weeks after the surgery. I can put full weight on my leg and have been limping around to work the last couple of days.

I'm thinking of going to play in the local pool tourney tomorrow.

i'll probably be back at work next wednesday and back to practicing pool full time within a couple of weeks.

So Tate, I'm sure you'll see me limping around in the stands at Hardtimes sweating the Oscar Morra match here in a couple of weeks. You may even see me get into some small time action.

Thanks everyone for all of your concern.

Jaden...

sounds good

Jaden,

Thanks for the update. A lot of sleepless nights lately and I'm having trouble keeping up with days. I was thinking you had the surgery already. It does sound like they will fix it up just fine. Bring a gallon ziploc or two with you and a towel if you play in the tournaments or are hanging out at the pool hall sweating matches for a long time. Swelling may be an issue and RICE is the cure. Rest Ice Compression and Elevation.

The operation does sound pretty simple. If you want to save a buck I'll do it for you!

Take care and do update us after the surgery please. Dummy Me!
