James Walden is looking for a house pro job

peteypooldude...Whether I need it or not is not the point. I was taught to always ask for the total nuts, when gambling with pros. I figure this is a mortal lock. Besides...I'm an instructor, and everybody knows instructors can't play a lick! :D This is taking this thread off track, so I'm done.

Do you think you need the 2 out ?
5 and the last 5 is strong. If you need more than that you need to take up cooking or something else

I don't own a pool hall, but I've run numerous other businesses.

If I had a pool hall, I'd rent space to a house pro. He'd get discounted table rates for lessons and leagues (if he's managing the league, not me). If he wants a repair shop, he keeps all his revenue from repairs, tips, etc.

He'd be a independent contractor, renting cheap space in my pool hall. Lots of people want a "job", but I want to partner with people who are confident enough in their ability to bring in business that they know they'll make more money as an independent.

This is sensible. It would also give the owner a low-cost trial period to see if, and to what degree, having a pro around adds to the bottom line. If there's a financial benefit to the room, perhaps the deal can be renegotiated.

Come on people...... The 2 and out was a joke. Scott is a good guy. I would like to meet Brett and James. Pool is a tough job. Only a few make some real money.

PS. I gave the 2 and out once and won:p

Just wondering

I wonder, would a golf course have a head pro that could not or never
could break 100. I guess he could run the tournaments keep the carts
charged up, etc. But give lessons ?
jack

its not a good idea to knock a fellas action
especially when he is as highly respected as james walden

if 2 guys are playing and one needs the break and 2 through
i am not to eager to ask him for lessons

if he pipes up asking questions that are not meant to help anyone but himself,
then i 'm not to eager to have him over for dinner

i have to agree with jackpot and the rest of you guys that know a good player when you see one

james is one good player

i for one would be inclined to stop by for lessons and an opportunity to watch him play,i might even try to match up and play,i know james is not afraid to gamble and i am always willing to try him on with a hugh spot

well scott, i would expect a fair salary and of course everything free in the hall. as far as what i would bring to the table, i would spend at least an agreed upon number of hours in the hall. i would be available before and after every league to help all the league players. which brings people in sooner and keeps them there later. i would be available to give lessons and i would gamble cheap with anyone that wanted to play some with me. i will give pointers and advice to anyone that asks for it. i would run tournaments and bring as much action as i could come up with to the hall. i will be there to give advice on matching up to anyone trying to make a game. i think i could inspire many of the lower level players to put more time in trying to improve. i think my presence would bring people in more often and give them the want to play more. i am not looking to plunge toilets or work the bar. that is what the bartender is for. i am there to improve the number of hours people spend in the hall. the longer people stay, the more they spend.

James...Thank you for answering my original question. Those are great assets to offer any room owner. Answering questions like that, on here, will help get the word out. I would recommend you post this same thread in the "Ask a Room Owner" forum. Good luck with your search!

I agree, James is the "real deal" and can really play, on a REAL pool table.

As someone else mentioned earlier......please look at getting to Shooters in Olathe, KS.

would you do this in a real pool hall if you were standing by both of them, no you would not, someone might not like how you are acting but behind a keyboard you can bash whoever.

Ehh, what did he say that was so offensive? James posted a thread asking if any pool hall might be interested in his services, Scott decided to get into the middle of the thread and ask what he actually has to offer or "brings to the table" in a none to constructive fashion, and someone said "Well he might bring $5000 to the table if you want a game with him Scott..."

I have certainly seen people say that much openly in a pool hall, you call a pro pool out like Scott did you might get a reply asking if you want to gamble, and I sure as hell do not think anyone is going to resort to violence due to that offer of a bet and they sure as hell are not in the "right" if they did.

Cripe, every second thread that JB Cases is involved in has more woofing about action and crap then the post that got you so hot and bothered.
