Jay Swanson "Swanee" Memorial 9-Ball Tournament Registration Info

NO JUMP Cues at Swanee

It was mistakenly stated that jump cues were allowed in the Jay Swanson Memorial event. Jump cues have NOT been allowed since the 2nd or 3rd year. This is the 14th year coming up.

Someone had said they were allowed last year. They were not supposed to be, however last year was the first year I was NOT present. Unfortunately, I had to be in Denver for a court case (which we won), so I do not know if the non jump cue rule was enforced.

So that being said, jump cues are NOT allowed in the Swanson tournament. You can jump with your shooting cue. You can use phenolic tips on your break cue.

I REALLY hope this does not upset anyone, it is just the rules we have used for about 12 years. I am not upset at our staff member - since they are very pro active. And if you are doing a lot of things, you are going to make a few mistakes. No big deal.

If there are any questions, please call our office (702-719-7665) - ask for Mark Griffin. I will be at Derby from Jan 21st until close to the end of the month.

This is bad news to me because I play such bad shape. Every other shot is a jump for me. LOL.
Can't wait.

Not a bad idea to come in that night and sign up for the Swanee the next day. Guarantees you a spot so you don't get shut out, and saves you five bucks.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for clearing that up!

I don't think anyone cares too much - it's just nice to know exactly what the rules are going into it.

I think it was rack your own too, correct?

Yep - rack your own. Also been a rule for 12 years or so. Sure saves a LOT of aggravation!

All red circles this year! Friday night mini will start about 6:30 PM.

I hate that damn cue ball, but at least I'll be prepared. Every major pool room in southern California uses the measles cue ball, Hollywood should upgrade.

If you ask for the red dot cue ball at Hollywood they'll give you it. They have a bunch.
Super psyched!
