It was mistakenly stated that jump cues were allowed in the Jay Swanson Memorial event. Jump cues have NOT been allowed since the 2nd or 3rd year. This is the 14th year coming up.
Someone had said they were allowed last year. They were not supposed to be, however last year was the first year I was NOT present. Unfortunately, I had to be in Denver for a court case (which we won), so I do not know if the non jump cue rule was enforced.
So that being said, jump cues are NOT allowed in the Swanson tournament. You can jump with your shooting cue. You can use phenolic tips on your break cue.
I REALLY hope this does not upset anyone, it is just the rules we have used for about 12 years. I am not upset at our staff member - since they are very pro active. And if you are doing a lot of things, you are going to make a few mistakes. No big deal.
If there are any questions, please call our office (702-719-7665) - ask for Mark Griffin. I will be at Derby from Jan 21st until close to the end of the month.
Any streaming from the Swanee this year?
All red circles this year! Friday night mini will start about 6:30 PM.
Can a call in guarantee be done for this?
Driving in from Pheonix....When you get to about just past Palm Springs you start to find out if it is going to take you 5 hours or 8.5 hours to get to Hollywood......
Damn Cali Grid lock.....You would think they could have a freeway or two in that town....![]()
This may fit in real well with the obligatory Friday night ring game.:thumbup:
Holly,
If we are registered already, do we need to check in on Saturday morning or are we good to go? IIRC there was no check in required last year, the line was just for sign ups trying to get in to the tournament that morning.
Thanks.
Did someone say "Ring Game" ??????/
:grin-square:
I'm all geeked up. I'm all geeked up, I'm all geeked up!
We need more big tourny's in LA! Come on Jay= LA OPEN 2010! We're counting on you. Jay's 1992 LA Open was my first pro tournament I went to.
I walked into the 2 stadium convention room and saw Varner, Archer, Mataya, Strickland, Wiley etc...up close! I'll never forget that feeling. Those player shad the magic. Anyway, the Swanee gives me that feel all these years later. Wish we had more.
One more big one scheduled at Hollywood Billiards already. Memorial Day weekend, $150 entry, $8,500 Added! It is a Seminole Pro Tour event. I expect a quality field for this one too, right after the World Pool Masters and U.S. Open Ten Ball in Vegas.
