John tends not to play most of the Joss Tour events. I don't believe he played in the Ocean States Championship in November, and that's the second most prestigious event you can win on the Joss Tour.

The Joss regulars include Dechaine, Shaw, Sossei, Strickland, Casanzio, D'Alfonso, Dupuis, and others. Winning Joss events is a very tall order.

Agreed that the August Turning Stone will bring the usual killer field.

Guys, this was something to behold. Jayson Shaw over the last year, after taking Shane the distance in that race to 100, then back to back Turning Stone titles--he is a force and destined for the hall of fame. I know it's early to predict such things, but we are only watching the beginning of this stellar player. Such memorable moments...the 22 minute victory over Immonen..The hill hill battles with Morra and Wilke..his pace at the table. Amazing.

Watching him between matches pushing the stroller with his wife and new born daughter, gave a whole new meaning to his finishing in the cash. This guy has a family to play for--such inspiration leads to greatness.

 
Watching Shaw set a world record against Mika was a true pleasure. Won 9-1 in just 20 minutes!!! Saw it from 6 feet away.

I disagree. The Joss Tour is stronger now.
 
I would like to see how Jayson would fare in a long race 2 man tournament with a large entry fee.

It is disappointing that not one player on this year's US Mosconi Cup team played at the Turning Stone. I read about SVB was planning on the Chinese 8 Ball and had visa issues so he missed out --- but the other 4, with pockets full from Mosconi Cup payday, could have made the trip then circled back thru towards the DCC. I also understand it is an East Coast tourney so that it is not so convenient for many of the players but would you rather play in a $25K added event and know you are going to get paid or a $40K added event and have serious doubts you will get paid.

Yes, Deuel finished tied for 17th. I give him credit for playing. Turning Stone is very tough action for sure, probably offering the third toughest nine ball field on the American pool calendar behind the US Open 9-ball and Derby City 9-ball.
 
TS is the one event, other than invitationals, where you cant just show up, pay your fee and play. The locals (Canadians and Upstaters) love the event, enter early and the field is full a month or 3 in advance. Serious players should enter asap and if you cant play im sure you can get your money back.

The next one is 8/20-23. Mark your calendar IN MAY!

The reg. Pool room events used to have more stronger players on average too. When all the Pinoy's used to have a base in Conn. and before Tony's Predator Tour,
all the NY guys would come up. Some Penn guys also. There's lots of guys I don't see anymore for one reason or another.

There's no way the Joss Tour is stronger now than years back. There also used to be way more Tour Stops, stronger fields, and bigger calcutta's than now.
I am glad it still is going strong, but the reality is what it is.

We'll have to agree to disagree here. If you consider only those who play half the events or more, I think it is stronger today. If you include also those who dabble in Joss Tour play, then maybe you are right.

Where we are on the same page for sure is that the Joss Tour is going very strong today.
 
Joss Tour is very strong right now!! Ever hear of a guy named Ron Cosanzio from Rochester?? I didnt until this weekend and ill tell you this... He is a monster and took out a lot of heavy hitters this time around. Personally I think its the best tour in the nation beside the Action Pool Tour.
