Jenn Barretta Pro player... REALLY?

Wow, this is kind of funny. All this because I said something about a player that has a group of vocal fans?? I have no intention of playing Jennifer, For many reasons but like someone else has said to the effect of "If you criticize a player that obligates you to match up"?? Just silly really. Also said was if you don't like the way Tiger played at the Masters and say it on a golf forum do you have to play Tiger to prove something?? lol Come on.

Sorry I ave not responded sooner to all this but I seriously have other things to do and don't sit around sweating forum posts. Hope this helps you all give up the push to get me to NYC.

I really care about pool and I was maybe a little harsh in my original post but I just maybe expected more than I saw from her considering the hype.

I am not putting it down but stating facts. The tour is a former shell of itself with next to no events. A lot of it stems from it being poorly run which can't be debated.

Of course it eventually failed because it was poorly run.

Just like the men's tours, when they eventually collapsed. Far, far longer ago than the women's, with no national TV exposure.

I would take your money FOR SURE! I know this. It would have to be for much more than $500 too. just to cover my expenses to get there and then my time and make it worth while. Seriously you don't want any part of that bet.

Is there still debate amongst us that one of the potential combatants is a dedicated female player, while the other has won a world's title in pool sport?

No, you were not a little harsh, you were being the little b1tch nit you have proven to be. And on top of that, you don't want any part of Jennifer on the table, even though you believe it's "embarrassing she calls herself a pro". So, you admit you cannot handle this amateur female for the cash.. good to know.

Yeah, a baseball player strikes out 4 times in a game, I guess he's not a pro?

You can mention she is off, or not on her game, but why insult a person who is a good ambassador for the game and posts here, I mean grow up, this is not HS.

What did you expect ?

You created the thread calling her a mid level league player.

Then someone challenged you to play her for $500. You could have replied like you did above, but you didn't. You replied you would win "FOR SURE", but it would have to be more than $500 to cover your travel expenses.

You started the whole thing. So "All this" is because of you. Big difference between constructive criticism and an insult.

you also would have never asked if tiger was a pro REALLY?..you opened your mouth showed youre d1ck now deal with it

I have never seen Jean Bulukas play. But have read and hear she beat "plenty" of top men players.

I have to smile as she was described as "Playing just like a man". So maybe that is what Allison is eluding to.

10-15 years ago, I would have really like to have seen Jean and Allison mix it up.

Maybe we are just spoiled by seeing Efren and SVB playing.

Ken
Jean played head and shoulders above all her female competitors. If there was a tournament and Jean was competing, it was known that, other women would not even bother playing, she was that good. Many of her male contemporaries were afraid to compete against her - they didn't want to lose to a girl. She was fearless, aggressive, and intimidating.
I think very highly of all of the women who work hard to represent our sport, and I place great value on their dedication and effort to promote the game.

A regrettable thread to be sure.

When the WPBA was at its strongest (perhaps 2004-09) and nearly every great female player in the world played on it, Jennifer's ranking was nearly always in the 7-14 range. In those years, Jennifer probably had over twenty five top ten finishes, and probably about ten top fives. In WPBA play, her victims list included every big name on the tour including Ga Young, Allison, Karen, Monica, Gerda, Helena, Jeanette, Ewa, Vivian and others.

Jennifer won an event in Korea called the Empress Cupby beating Ga Young Kim in the final.

Jennifer has finished in the top ten in the WPA Women's World 9-ball championships.

**** Jennifer won a Joss Tour event a few years ago by beating Jeremy Sossei in the final by a score of 11-4 (see footnote).

In the ten ball event at Steinway a few weeks ago, she beat both Jeanette Lee and Brittany Bryant on the way to a third place finish.

Jennifer presently carries the highest WPA ranking of any American at #29.

Maybe its better to give an accomplished player her due rather than bash her on the basis of one mediocre effort in a match at Turning Stone.

Shame on all of you who have questioned her professional credentials!

**** Amending this post: A knowledgeable poster has advised me that Jennifer's win over Sossei to win a men's event came in a Predator Tour event, not a Joss event.
Thank you Sjm!

I find it odd is that someone that doesn't like Jennifers game and questions
what makes her a pro gets bombarded with hate but proven male
professionals like Mike D, CJ wiley who is a avid participant on AZ
gets blasted with insults on a weekly bases.
Hypocrisy? I guess in a room full of guys, it pays to be hot.

I've never seen anyone call Mike D. a mid-level league player. CJ. Either, for that matter, although many will point out he can't hang with the big dogs anymore, which is the opinion, of course.

Your right I've never heard those insults either. If you dig up some older
threads you'll find much worse insults.

I guess the difference between an opinion and a insult, is if you like
or dislike the person being critiqued.

yes, We need more hot women in pool to attract hordes of men. Also there will be no thread started about non-hot women players.
Many complain about slow play of Archer and CW but Jen's slow play is no big deal - actually most men prefer that she plays slow
As Einstein once observed-
"An hour sitting with a pretty girl on a park bench passes like a minute, but a minute sitting on a hot stove seems like an hour." :D

Jenn Barretta Pro Player

Anyone who's ever played on a stream understands it's sooooo hard to preform at your best. The pressure makes you second guess yourself and dog your stroke. It's not easy. Aside from being a strong player she's also an amazing role model for anyone trying to learn the game. Her and her husband have both taught me a great deal about this game.

Trust me on this. Play a set on camera. Then watch it and ask yourself how good you played. You can play the set of your life and when you watch you'll think "ehhh I would have done that different". It just looks easier on the stream.

I played in the semi-finals a few months ago at the Western BCA as a Master on live stream for the first time and played terrible. I was playing very well up to this live stream match. It isn't easy.

I know she has fans out there but come on. I'm watching her play at TS against a very low level player and she is struggling. The level of play is mid level league play at best. She is supposed to be a PRO?? I would be ashamed to call myself a pro with a straight face if I were her. This match is taking so long for the lack of ability. I know she is nice on the eyes for the guys and maybe some of the girls but that don't make you a PRO player. She came third in a womens tourney recently but the major players were not there and the ones that were ate her lunch. What makes a lady player a pro these days??

You're not saying anything new that hasn't been common knowledge since the day she started. Even Ewa wasn't too kind about her game.

I find it odd that you miss the point. I think you also miss a few comma's. You seem to think that it is ok to insult Mike and CJ among others as a justification for the original post. It is not.

By the way, it is not easy to be hot. As a hot guy I am very aware that women only come to watch me play because they want to see me bend over the table when I shoot, swooning if I have to rest a leg on the rail when reaching for a long shot. I know that they do not truly appreciate my skill and it wounds me.

I must admit, however, that I often swirl my chalk when I cue because I know the babes love it when you swirl the chalk instead of grinding it on the tip. I also use an overhand grip from time to time for the same reason. Have a little empathy for us hotties we like to play also and should not be objectified.

I am sure that the two examples of male player that you used have also had their share of female adulation. CJ in particular has had to fight it all his life in order to be appreciated as a player and Mike.......c'mon you KNOW he drives the babes crazy.....why do you think he grinds the chalk the way he does? If he swirled he'd never get a moments peace.
