JoeyA should have his own pool talk show after the great job he did in Mobile, AL. But, then he always does a good job of commentating! It is good when you can shoot pool good, and talk good about pool as well.... My hat goes off for JoeyA.

I admire JoeyA's ability to be neutral in what can sometimes be competing situations in pool.

We have a lot of friends who live in the deep South. The first time I spoke to JoeyA, I immediately noticed that he did not have that Southern drawl. If you were to hear his speech and not know anything about him, you would never know he hails from Beautiful Dixie.

He's a great commentator. This is a trait that not everybody can master. When you watch the news programs on TV, most of the anchor people do not have any discernible accents.

We are fortunate to have so many intelligent people in the pool world who can provide good commentary. I tried it once and was as nervous as a cat with a long tail in a room full of rocking chairs. I become darn near almost speechless when a mic in thrown in front of me, but let me have a keyboard, and I'm hell on wheels!

JoeyA is a great guy I hope he enjoyed himself. Lock and Load I still laugh when I think about you woofing at Buddy Hall. The guy stood by you had a classic response to your woofing but I can't repeat it on here. Funny as hell though. Hope you are well sir and hope to see you next time I am in Nawlins.

Buddy Hall is my Buddy.

I thank you for your asking about how I am doing. I trust that things are going well for you! Now, about Buddy, everyone said I should give him the 7, but I went one better and offered him the 6...... Buddy and Nick are very nice people. They both will go out of their way to help a person. You do not find people like them around everyday. I hope to see you when you come back to New Orleans, Louisiana.

Lousiana and in particular the city of New Orleans, has a different accent that does not fit into southern style. New orleans accent is somewhat close to Brooklyn accent. yes, Brooklyn, NY! One time I tried to find out how it happened. I heard different theories/hypotheses regards the Brooklyn accent with New Oreleanians. That is more related to the travel route taken by Arcadians ( from canada ) before they reached New Orleans. Interestingly Joe A does not have the brooklyn accent either.

PS: I am NOT a linguist and I am no expert on accents.

Lock, I agree that JoeyA is a good commentator and a pure pleasure to listen to while calling a match, he has a great voice and his knowledge about the game goes without saying.

Good to see you back on the forum Lock, hope all is well with you!

Jennie,
Every player deserves their time in the sun. While I have my favorites just like anyone else, I try to share the positives and negatives of what I see in the match. While I try to accentuate the positives, I will politely point out the obvious problems taking place in a match.

If you ever do commentary with me, I promise that you will be so relaxed, you will think you were born to do commentary. It is what JoeyA do. :D

Ray,
I seldom review my commentary but I would be very interested in listening to some of these particular matches to see how I came across. I made a distinct effort to change up my style, just for this event. Can you provide a link to where I can find the matches I did commentary on?

As to the face for radio comment..... ha-ha....:nono:

You've got the Nawlins down pat. Pretty tough for a Brit. You fit in just great!

I periodically tell the story of the first time someone noticed that I didn't have the New Orleans accent. It was when I joined the Marine Corps. Maybe another time... It was by design.

Thanks David.

I appreciate you and all of the people who like the job I do on the LiveStreams.

Live Streaming is still in it's infancy and as the dollar shrinks in value, perhaps more people will realize what a great value the live streams are and will help support the industry.

Live Streamers will have to realize that if the public is going to pay for LiveStreaming events, then their quality is going to have to rise.

There are some things that I plan to do on my next big paying gig that I hope will enhance the quality of my commentary and thereby give better value to the viewers and the sponsors.

As I test out different styles of commentary, I will try to determine what is the best style or the most popular style for the broadest selection of viewers. Thanks again for your input.

When I was doing commentary at Mobile, AL I was able to occasionally glance at the chat room list but wasn't able to interact as much as I would like to. There is just so much going on and so little time to do everything you would like to. On PPV gigs, I have some additional incentives planned to enhance the quality of the chat. I'm sure I will make some mistakes along the way in trying to enhance the experience for everyone concerned but that is just part of the learning curve.

Now if I could only get my pool game in gear. :p

Reminds me of an old war story of my father's. He was a major in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He and a couple buddies went to a local restaurant in Switzerland, and the waitress only spoke French. One of the Army buddies was from Louisiana, so he tried to interpret.

He asked the waitress, speaking in Louisiana French, for three orders of ox tail soup. The waitress and a few patrons nearby overhearing the conversation erupted in loud laughter.

It turns out that the Louisiana chap's French translated to requesting three orders of ox penis soup.:yikes:

"a soft southern drawl, an occasional you all"

Both of my brothers joined uncle sugar's operation and learned to talk like the man on the six o'clock news. I took a different path and sound completely different on the phone than I do on the keyboard! :D I chuckled when somebody said I sound very "ethnic". Yup, that is one way to put it.

A small group grew to the size that with great regret they felt that a set of rules had to be created. A friend from Colorado instantly said the first rule was for the rulemakers, Hu had to be able to read the entire set of rules aloud in under two minutes! He wasn't planning for there to be many rules. I preferred to keep my soft southern drawl and an occasional "you all". Has served me well in many a negotiation with the northerners and city slickers that figure they are gonna put one over on this old country boy.

Here is why many a southerner sounds midwestern:

The truth is the light. And the right way to tell about something. If you had played in the double's match last night it might have been different with the outcome! They asked you to play, but then I do not know what happened....... Way to go JoeyA.

Hello Big Truck,
You' got a going on, with the live stream PPV. I think more people will get into it the more you do it! Did that come out right? Big Truck you are the Man! Let their be no doubt in your mine!
Now about your comment on JoeyA's face for radio! On second thought just leave JoeyA's face out of this! It is not his fault! He can't help it if his face looks like a radio..... You said that Big Truck, not me!!!! Big Truck is it a car radio or a house radio? He, He, He!

Thanks Ken.

There's a tournament this weekend in Jackson, MS but I may skip that one. There will be live streaming there but I may not make the trip.

October 8 & 9 is the date for the BIG CALCUTTA tournament at White Diamonds in Lafayette, LA and I will probably do something there.

I'll keep everyone posted on any serious commentary that I will be doing through the Main Forum. In the meantime, I will keep playing in tournaments and when I have the energy I will apply myself as opportunity sees fit.

A couple of friends have been kind enough to privately point out some of my commentary faux pas and I will work on those. I'm still waiting on some cool ideas to enhance the commentary. If anyone has any cool ideas for my commentary, please PM them to me. Thanks again for the kind words.

Hi lock, iam also very glad that you are back, up and running on our forums,it surely makes this a better place, have a great day SIR!
