I am not understanding why Justin and TAR are making such a huge deal out of John Schmidt's conduct at TAR 28. I understand in the one pocket he made come comments that he himself wasn't happy about. I also heard he told Corey at the 14.1 world tournament he felt horrible about it and said he was sorry. Corey excepted his apology. I just don't think his conduct was that bad overall and I think they were even talking about not having him back when he was guaranteed another TAR match for winning. His behavior didn't hold a candle to Earl Strickland who threw his equiptment all over the place, screaming at the crowd and basically wigging out every single time things weren't going his way. When Earl played Shane on the 10 footer he was a complete nut job and he was invited back to play in the TAR studio. I guess there are just a lot of JS haters out there but I am not one of them. He is the 14.1 World Champion and since he has been playing more pool the last few months he's pretty much been winning everything. He crushed Jose Parica in a one pkts challenge match, same thing with Gentile, beats Corey Deuel in all around and 14.1 World Champion. I guess you have to walk on pins and needles if you play on TAR?? Weird"-)

He was pretty obnoxious, talking while Corey was shooting telling him he was getting lucky and then when Corey asked him to stop he told Corey to STFU, all the while Corey was STILL at the table.
Earl wigged out and got a second chance, but he then wigged out again and now he is history. Earl is a huge draw normally and people like to watch him play more then almost any other player thus he got one more chance, people like Mike Dechaine, not so much, and now John seems to have worn his welcome.
Personally, I found the "apology" pretty cheap and insincere at the end of the match when he had managed to set Corey off of his game and win the final two events.

The apology does not change anything TBH, the damage was done to both the TAR match and to Corey's enjoyment and ability to play at that event. "Sorry" is a day late and a dollar short and it does not change what happend or what John's actions cost either the TAR viewers or Corey Deuel.

Earl's level of disrespect was off the charts. At the same time, John was disrespectful to Corey in some of the things he was saying. And John was using it partly as a move and partly as motivation since he was stuck at the time.
But I do agree John was not as bad as Earl.

Oh well I guess it's back to SVB vs ? every TAR match. They should change it from TAR to SVB......

That's cool Celtic...I didn't have any money on Corey....I think John will survive....There are other pool players out there that are exciting that could draw well though. I love Shane but it's getting to be every other TAR match is SVB. I guess I wish they would mix it up more. Even to bring somebody from the past who can still play great would be a breath of fresh air. I guess I am more excepting from watching people match up a lot. When someone is getting every roll under the sun and player is saying your such a lucky little *****, nobody flips out and says OMG did you hear him call him a little ***** let's get him banned from pool forever...I'm bored, get Mike Sigel in the box with someone"-)

Amen. What is it with pro pool players, where it seems the "pro" part of their designation (read: not just an assessment of their pool skills) goes completely out the window when things aren't going their way?
What is with the pissy and petty behavior in these ranks, where only a notable few (e.g. SVB, Tony Robles, Tommy Kennedy, et al.) really and truly act like professionals?
Mike Dechaine at least has an excuse -- he's a young kid trying to find his way in this world. But the other pros *should be* (key operative words) seasoned adults.
It's really sad. Sometimes you wish someone would just storm out of the audience into the arena, go up and windmill-smack these pros upside the head telling them that he/she is here to watch good pool -- not watch a baby cry -- and then go back to his/her seat in the stands.

I don't understand why so many are so quick to give players a pass for unprofessional and unsportsmanlike conduct. This notion that pool needs to get it's "Jersey Shore" on in order to be popular is seriously misguided IMO. I agree that a player's unique character or personality can add something from an entertainment perspective; Rodney and Alex are two who come to mind - they have great personalities and are fun to watch for who they are as well as the talents they bring to the table.
There is a big difference, however, between supporting a player who brings a bit of color to the table and supporting a player just because they have a tendency to go postal in their matches. Yeah, there's an audience for that, but it's absurd to think we want that audience influencing our sport in any way shape or form. That's the audience who would pay to see your 16 year old daughter throwing a tantrum in your front lawn, screaming "BUT DADDY I WANTED A CAMARO!!" after she sees the Honda Civic you got her for her birthday. You can film all kinds of stupid sh*t to get that audience - no need to drag pool into it.
Maybe pool wouldn't sell as well if every player was a Souquet or a Yang, but you know what, as a true pool enthusiast I'm fine with that. And when Pagulayan vs. Yang comes on I will be in hog heaven knowing that I'm about to see a great match b/w two players who will actually show a little decency and respect toward the sport, each other, and the only audience we should care about - pool fans.

Why is there SUCH a double-standard in pool????? You guys all act like these pros should act holier than thou and be a good little mench but the fact remains that nearly ALL pro athletes (over 90%) of all sports act up.

Every couple of weeks the "chirping" starts about how this pro or that pro doesn't "act like a pro." Give it a break -- it's getting old.
Pro is defined as someone who does something at a high level and for a living. Sure, we all want our favorite pros to act like Ben Stein and deadpan and wear bow ties all the time but none do because that's not how people act while under pressure and playing for the cash.
Stop with the critical assessments of these guys' personalities when many of you prob kicked your dog when you got home from work last night.
I wish there'd be MORE sh1t-talking and MORE controversy and MORE pissing battles. Otherwise, you have a show like Repo Man where everyone pays their car payment on time and they just sit around and play Cribbage all day.

I understand what you are saying. I do like more colorful players though, without the crying and such though ofcourse. I have watched JS match up several times without incident, and he is just exciting to watch, IMO. Some players just don't have that type appeal and I get bored. Sometimes in the heat of the moment things happen. I guess I just don't take it as personal as some people on here do. I don't agree with everything JS does, but I love to watch him play. There are other players that have that colorful type personality that know how to bring excitment to the game. The perfect gentleman thing just puts me to sleep. I would rather watch John Schmidt run 400 balls and snivel his ass off the whole run"-).

That bobble-headed waggle and shit-eating grin when he got Busty's break cue removed put me off. It wasn't, "hey, I think you have an unfair advantage", it was more like. "Hah, I got YOU Busty ... mwhahaha, I'm a super-duper dude now!" It's childish and annoying. I've seen 10 year olds with better social skills. Maybe things will change, we will see.
I've come close to acting out on your second point. My sole reason not to have done so was just the fact in America you guys actually put people in jail.

Tiger lost a huge amount of his sponsership due to his antics.
John McEnroe got fined $90,000 over his career for his on the court antics.
Tyson was fined 3 million dollars for chomping on Holyfield's ear and was forced to pay for the hearing costs that determined his punishment.
Yeah, and those football players go to jail for alot of that stuff too...
Other sports have some bad apples for sure, but they certainly do not condone the actions of the offenders and neither should we.
