john schmidt

I really hope he comes back. I read every post he makes. All I know is when someone is capable of running 400+ balls, I really care about what they have to say about everything having to do with pool.

When it comes to pool info I'd rather hear from John who is a verifyable world beater even though he is a bit cranky at times lol than a bunch of internet experts who may or may not have been or are any kind of player(that includes me lol). The fact that I can go see him play on youtube, on a livestream or at tournament makes him way more credible in my eyes!

I would like to see John back here, he is a good contributor to the forums. To be quite honest we should be honored, we should not be hard on these pros, we have had many take off because idiots get jollies messing with a pro. It just makes us all look bad and takes away all the vital info we could get and just being able to talk with them here.

Personally, I think John Schmidt is better off not posting on AzBilliards Discussion Forum. Why should he? The reward for a pro player posting here is nothing but ridicule. There is nothing pleasant about it.

John, enjoy your life. Thanks for sharing the pool nuggets that you did.

I can't think of another pro player who takes the time to regularly talk to us on the forum without an ulterior motive. I hope he reconsiders.

That "what it takes to be a champion" thread - it seems we had a few non-champions argue endlessly with a real champion on what it takes to be a champion. I'm not saying that John is necessarily right, though I think he probably is - I'm no champion and don't hang around with champions, so what do I know? I wish other posters would have a little of the same attitude. Take John's opinion for what it is - a valuable perspective from somebody who's achieved greatness at the game but still just an opinion - and don't bait the man.

It's like some people think - well, I can't beat him on the pool table but I can out-debate him. And if you succeed in getting him all riled up, just what have you accomplished? Are you any closer to being a champion yourself?

One thing you have to love about John - somebody announces in the 14.1 forum that they just ran 50 balls, and John pops in with an attaboy. He runs 50 balls with his eyes closed but still congratulates us on our meager achievements.

So I hope he comes back.

Well put, Rich. It is very nice of John to have even taken his time to help us out.

But as Jam says, he's probably better off not coming here and putting himself through the aggravation.

What did I miss? I think John is a great asset, great player, and I always enjoyed his posts. So what happened?

99 percent on here are great and im going to miss you guys but you guys can all ask questions and discuss things with the real masters like mowen down, chewning, shooting arts etc.
many on here are mature secure adults with good jobs etc that play pool for fun,you dont see me as a threat or enemy, because im a better player.
many on here are actually trying to get to where im at in pool and see me as a direct threat and no matter what i say tell me im a egomaniac arrogant jerk etc.they belittle everything ive done in pool and say things like with enough practice ill be better than you and you need weight from this guy and that etc.
they are totally jealous haters and have been their whole lives.
until this is a forum where i know who im speaking too and everybody uses a real name like i do im done with being a target for guys who are wanna bes.

That is too bad. Way to go fellas. Chase off one of the only pros to share his insight. I hope you are proud.

Don't really know how to read into this. First he says a bunch of us are losers, but, only 1 percent, lol. Im sure he will be ok. He has all the talent in the world. LOL. Just kidding.

....what Fast Lenny said.....

Had to look up what I missed. It looked like a heated discussion between natural talent and fought tooth and nail practice. Both sides are right imo. There are those who were born with a cue in their hand and those who were born with a drive to win which is also a natural talent. I am the side who has the drive, but I think that is the better for my personality.

Hope you come back John as I do enjoy reading your posts....particularly on 14.1. If you don't come back I wish you a lot of luck in the new year and I certainly hope to see you in the Mosconi next year.

A few of us were discussing, NOT arguing, and some of us said that "given a certain baseline amount of physical/mental skill" that many players can achieve the level of a dominant regional player, that wins multiple regional events. If given two years of full time practice and not having to worry about money during that time.

You know, the sort of fellow that crushes B players, and leaves the B player telling his friends "He was a champion".

John then comes on and automatically assumes we are talking about a player the level of Putnam, himself, Efren, Archer, etc. And then begins to insult us for our opinion, even though it was clarified numerous times that we were speaking of a different level of player than he was. He would acknowledge that we were talking about different levels of players, then go right back to insulting us for saying we could play like him and Efren.

The below text I think was directed at Hu, but I am pretty sure that Hu had a right to be angry with the way John was treating people in the thread who disagreed with him.

He used these sorts of insults against numerous people in the thread, no matter how many times we reiterated we acknowledged you had to have a certain level of genetic talent to play at John and Efren's level.

The "drama" in the thread came from John's total disrespect for other's opinions. We gave numerous examples of players who are not known to have tremendous physical gifts, but were still able to win a major tournament, and continue to be dominant regional players.

Seems to happen with most pro players who come here and try to share some of their experience. Lot of people here who think they know as much or more and are bound and determined to make the pro see things their way. The Champion thread was just one example. I don't agree with everything John says but that doesn't mean I don't want him here.
