john and others who may need this advice -

arguing on the internet is like wrestling with a pig - you get filthy and the pig likes it.

I voted for you Joey for the Mosconi cup if that's any consolation:grin:

And I agree with u Joey..I think John & Hu are both great guys....In person you won't find many better...alot of times on here things get taken out of context or taken wrong...I've personally have taklen offense to things that when later were explained the way it was meant was noway near the way i had taken it....That's why I have stayed out of this thread for the most part cuz I like both John & Hu & consider both to be friends.:happydance:

I know you were just joking but as a player, I just don't have the innate talent to play consistently at that level.

They would have to have a vote for the Mosconi Cup Commentator or the Team Captain if Nick ever retires for me to make the team.

If they ever have voting for those two positions I will make you my campaign tush hog.

im going to make this as simple as i can.i thought about this for the last few days.
i was trying to one up a couple people and say smug things to make them mad etc.i guess it worked.
obviously ive offended half of az.didnt mean too.
basically im going to say i got carried away trying to win argument .
im going to extend an apology to gatz,hu,chewning and anybody else that took things to heart.
im going to stay off az though as im not sure im cut out for forums ,im better at talking and relating to people in person.

i know i said alot of arrogant stuff but seriously if i acted like that all the time i would get beat up twice a week. i said those things to aggravate as a last resort from frustration obviously.

im not pointing fingers i said alot of mean stuff and so did others . but
i say lets all forget it and and remember we all like pool so we all have something in common.a friendship has been built on less before.

ive blown up many times before , have been insulted for about 15 years as a player and sometimes i lose it.

anyway i understand if you guys hate me but one thing i cant stand for long is being mean to people or picking on someone, so for that im sorry to everybody .

arguing is like being drunk you say things you dont mean.
i wont hold a grudge because anything anybody said mean towards me or vice verca was during a heated argument.

im going to ohio tommorrow for a week and wont be on here.i had to set things right before i went though.

you know the fighting and insult threads go on for 10 pages but the apology threads die after 1 page, funny how that works.

i know its more exciting and fun when im going at it with people but i have more serious things to do and so do they so lets try too all get along .

hu,chewning and gatz if i see you at derby i owe you guys all a beer.

happy holidays

If I only knew this a couple of days ago I would have worded my posts a little different, that's for sure...

R:cool:Y
love free beers

I was always told that argueing on the internet is like participating in the special olympics..Even if you win you still retarded !

As great a player John is talent alone will not make you a World Champion. "Racking up the balls" in a World Class 14.1 tournament and stating what he said above are only two examples of loosing your temper and this is what is keeping John to possibly being one of the best players ever. He can run hundreds of balls at will (as he bragged about in another post) but until he can control his temper he will fall short of being a great world class player.

I believe that the mental game is the toughest "talent" to learn. The physical part of the game is the easiest to learn and with alot of talent can be learned in a few years. It can take a lifetime to become mentally tough enough to compete at the highest level at this game.

John, John, John. Bravo for this! Dr. Jekyll is back, Mr. Hyde has left the building.

I want to thank you publicly John for coming through for me when we shot that pilot earlier this year. You really stand out in this show and hopefully it will lead to something positive for pool and for you.

Why you demean yourself as a pool player, I have no idea. It is actually you John who often feel unworthy, when so many people like me and Bill constantly remind you that you are in fact a CHAMPION! In all the years I've watched you play I've heard far more compliments about you and your abilities than insults. The fact is that you are respected by your peers and your fans as one of the best players in America. Just because one person says something negative about you or your game is no reason to get upset. We all know that every poolroom has its knockers, so don't feel alone.

I am quite certain that the great majority of AZ members and pool fans in general have a high regard for you, and your abundant pool skills. Ease up on yourself and don't take everything so seriously. Just read over once again all the positive support you get on here. John, you happen to be a very popular player, whether you realize it or not. As for myself, I will ALWAYS pick you if I'm doing any kind of special event. You always look great, present yourself well and put on a terrific show. By the way, IMO you are probably the best shot maker on the planet currently.

Part of me wants to agree with that but then I remember Earl and Mika who let their anger show sometimes and are still champions. For some people it might be better to let it out than to keep it boiling inside.

If John chooses not to post that is his choice, but I feel it is wrong to say that no pro should come on here. Chris Bartrum has no issues. A lot of the older guys post here and get nothig but respect, unless they flame or rant about the same thing every rare post they make (everyone knows who, but out of respect I don't name them).

John has went off the deep end here more times than Mark Spitz. He has had arguments with numerous people, including other pros. None of this bothers me, but if he was a regular poster most people would either say good ridance or just suggest that he lighten up.

I am not going to demean John, but he should not anyone else either. He can run 400+ balls which is phenomenal, Tiger has the best putting average in history, and my sister cuts hair for a living after dropping out of high school. None of these facts make any of them more or less valuable as people. Nor does it give them the right to special treatment.

Flame me if you like, but I know I do not play pool as well as John Schmidt. Guess what, it doesn't bother me.

true but i dont take stuff on here personal.
if i did then i guess i would get mad like johns.
most of the time the people on here he fights with he does not know.

Fighting or arguing with people on the Internet is very similar to the fights and arguments that Don Quixote managed to create. Quixote also lectured on the superiority of knights over scholars.

Thanks for responding Chris. That is my point exactly.

Corvette busted your balls on here for two months on here after the Stevie match, despite the fact that you were sending in against a world class player.

It was just good natured kidding, just like when I say he only did it because he is permanently attached to Stevie's nuts (see we all take jokes here).

When I first started on the board I offered games on the wire for Earl playing Shane and caught alot of crap from a member as if I were disrespecting an icon in pool just because I was trying to get a bet down. I took it for two straight days and never got a bet, even offering $300 to $1 to the original instigator.

Chris, you still haven't talked to me about the money game I told you about earlier. There is also a tournament that you can win enough $400+ to help with expenses. PM me. If anyone else is interested, just hit me up.
