Trigger, you live with your mom??? you must be loaded. Hey come to AZ and live with me if you want ;) Unfortunatly the weather is a little predictable here but that will make your job easy right?

Well, my Mom and I live together (because of her health).

I doubt I'll be going to AZ, tho... sorry. :o Remind me to kick you next time I see you for making fun of my job, lol!

Then, my bad. I must have misread your post. I thought they cut you off BEFORE you said your piece.
Hey Niel, I hope you know that I am not having a go at you at all right? Actually the last time I saw you I enjoyed your company as shortas it was. I think it was in Grand Rapids, Mi. In the middleof a snow storm and that day the powere was out in the pool room. Well earlier in the day.

We were doing a pool school at 11.00 am and there was no power and so we had to sit around with the students for a half our trying to figure out how many flachlights we would need to buy to light the table. AH good times :)

:o
But doesn't your story actually say that the top players might be wrong about a subject too?

Because if the two top playes in your car can't agree on a subject, one of them must be mistaken, so why should we always assume that the top pro talking about pool right now is 100 % correct? :)

Roy
wants the funny posts from John Schmidt back to the forum

I agree with Roy. I'm going to miss reading his posts. Can't we all just get along and sing Kumbaya? How boring would this forum be if everyone was the same? No matter who was right or wrong, this forum just got a little less entertaining. :frown:

This thread sounds allot like the way each and everyone of us go about work and living day to day. Whether we work at Micky D's or in a large corp or whatever.
I've run vehicle repair shops now for 14 years and all I do all day long is deal with others and their problems and in doing so have created allot of friendships with those I never thought I would of through interacting with others more than one time. What I've found, 50% of my customers are great, the other 50% can be split two ways, 2/3 I convert throught trust and interaction, the other 1/3 are wrapped in their own world/universe and are unreachable. Some of us at the first instance of conflict run the other way others run directly into you, some listen and process, some ask allot of questions, but through Good communication and direct interaction with another you know nothing about, pregudice and preconceptions fall to the side.

Everyone is entitled to their oppinion obviously. Here is another quick snippet for what its worth and I guess its about picking your battles.

We were on a road trip and Archer and Strickland were having a semi heated conversation about pool. I really don't remember what it was to be honest, I have actually told this story before though.

I decided to jump into this chat and give my opinion to the situation, anyone who knows me can tell you I ain't a bad player. So I interupted and gave my 2 cents. In a very nice wat I was basically told "just sit and listen you don't know what you are talking about" . Now if I was talking to Hu, Russ, jason Crugar, BVAL or many other posters on here I would say "F U, I have a very good point here" However for a second the anger boiled up inside me (Maybe a pride thing) and I was getting ready to re argue my point. Then I realized who I was talking to. I realized that I had never won a U.S Open, a world title or any major Pro pool event against the greatest players in the world. The anger subsided and I thought to myself "Yeah, compaired the these guys, I really don't know what I am talking about and maybe its better if I just listen and maybe lean something here" Now to me Yeah, I am entitled to my opinion but what are the chances that they are mre informed than me??

The wise old owl sat in the tree. The less he said, the more he heard. The more he heard the more he learned, The more he learned, the less he said.

Hells Bells Mark!

Next time listen a little better and then come share the story with us.

I wasn't aware that he had quit posting here. I'm sorry to hear that, it's always good to have top players like John posting here.

Joey, I think I remember most of the stories. I am going to start writing them down and posting them on here. There are some good ones, not all funny but interesting.

Better save them and write a book, because you will need the money after I've played you in DCC :)

It depends how the discussion is going and what the amature adds in. The pro's might disagree on a small tidbit of mental game that works different for each of them.

Pro 1 "In my experience after running a 6 pack in the finals of a huge tournament it is often good to forget about the previous racks you just ran instead of trying to build upon them and it is more likely that you will run the set out without the thought of doing it actually being on your mind."

Pro 2 "I cannot agree, I tend to remember the racks and if I run a 5 pack then the chance of getting to 8 racks is actually easier then getting the first 5, and then at 8 I am now actually a favorite to run out the set because I only need 3 more racks, and I have already run 8, 3 good breaks and I am golden"

Amateur "In my last big 8-ball match in Vegas I was on a 2 pack and broke a pretty bad rack, I just tied up two more balls and made the other guy try to get out, he blew it and I won that game and then ran the set, safeties to break up the run still keep you in control of the match."

Pro 1 "Yeah, I once tried that to this guy named Efren, fun times."

Pro 2 "Anyhow, back on topic..."

LOL, Amateur (Me) "Yeah I remember the finals of the World 9-Ball Championship. So frustrating, I had to use all the patience I had to wait for 5 mins to get a beerand then when I got back to the bleachers Some Duchebag Euro and taken my seat. I can't remember the guys name .... Roy ... Roy.. Ah well he was a dope. But it goes to show you the obsticles I had there"

I meant that IF Mark just agreed with for example Earl, should Johnny then tell mark that he has no idea what he is talking about, he is dead wrong, can't get laid if he is on an island with swine-flu victims etc... ?

My point is that there are many different answers to most pool-related questions, and even if a pro says something that might not be correct and the only answer.

Thorsten Hohmann laughed at me when I said that I thought the match he and Ralf played against Efren and Django in the final of the World Cup of Pool was the best 9-ball match I had ever seen.

He said "you must be kidding, there were no break and runs".

I told him that I loved the safety-battles, the pressure, fantastic kick-shots, the excitement of the fans and the fact that the best players in the world missed unexpectedly easy balls because of the pressure. It was the most exciting match I've ever seen.

He disagreed with me and thought the match was crap, but that doesn't mean he is correct because I'm an amateur and he's a world champion, does it?

It's nice to see that me and the pros agree on atleast one subject. (I guess they meant you were the idiot too, right?) :grin-square::grin:

ROFL!

That one is definately alot funnier.

BTW, just curious but my thinking is that it would be Archer and not Strickland that would have shut you down and got the discussion back between the two of them, not certain but that is where my money would be.
