Don't worry Jay, I will.

Can you tell me more about the break and run one pocket?
Just open break and start running balls?
5 racks?

Big pockets? small pockets?

Glad you missed the weather in the Phill.

Bill

Yes, open break and run as many as you can. Unfortunately this event is up in the air this year, due to lack of space. Regular Diamond 4.5" pockets.
There'll be plenty of One Pocket for you though. The main event with well over 300 players plus a sweet mini tourney one night. And all the action you want or need!

I got out just in time to miss the last typhoon there. They have about 10 or 12 a year somewhere in the Philippines, just a bad spot in the Southern Pacific for big storms. Kind of like Cuba and the Bahamas here. Only worse!

P.S. Time to enjoy yourself, like me. We worked hard for a long time and now we can enjoy the fruits of our labor. I'm still trying to figure out how to play this damn game!

Good luck Bill in all you do.
I was 19 (over 40 years ago) and living in Columbus, Ohio and had made a leather cue case
for myself. You saw it and suggested I make them to sale. Well, I've been
doing just that on and off ever since. Thanks, Bill.

Congrats on retiring! We all wish you the very best.

What ever happened to the "Design your dream" cue? Has that been delivered?

Enjoy retirement. Everyday is Sat.....but you'll know when Sunday is...NO MAIL

By a strange twist of fate a cue from among the first five Dan and I sold at Johnson City turned up for repair. It's over 40 years old and still straight.

i have a jw domino pattern, i got i believe in 1980. it plays as great today as then. when i started building cues your cues were my inspiration, my opinion, they play as good as any in the world. thank you for your cues and everything you did for the world of billiards.

Seems like a lot of the old guard is making a come back, Earls game has stepped up a notch the past couple years in my opinion, Cheyenne Pete still plays when he is feeling good, Danny Medina is back around and playing great pool. Maybe you will have to come through the Colorado area and play some of these guys, there are others that would gladly accomodate you also.

Congratulations, Bill.

Enjoy your well-earned retirement.

I feel very fortunate to own two one-of-a-kind cues you built for me. Thanks!

One thing I can say about Bill is, I have never met him, but I called his shop a year or so ago, and he answerd the phone and answerd the question I had, alot of cue makers dont answer there phone...........Thank you Bill.........:)

Mr. Stroud,

Congratulations on an amazing career, and such a wonderful legacy. You have impacted and influenced countless people who love this game very much. I wish you the best in your retirement, and good luck on the tables. I bet a lot of rolls go your way!

I was lucky enough to play with the 2nd Joss ever cue made. Relatively straight, but man did it play amazing. Congratulations on your retirement.

Yikes! You sure its not a Gina? I have never heard of one of Bill's cues as having the "domino pattern" like I have the older Ginas.

Man, too bad for that guy that you already threw in the towel!!!

Just curious, if someone were to pick up one of your cues, would you recommend another cuemaker specifically to perform a repair/restoration? Would anyone be allowed to replace a broken butt cap with your logo if it were matched exactly? You can PM me an answer if you don't feel comfortable giving an answer openly on the forum. Don't necessarily want to start a flame war here. Thanks.

What ever happened to the "Design your dream" cue? Has that been delivered?

Hi folks

The cue has not been delivered yet.

I've read all these discussions:

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?p=3185088
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=246830

Basically, I never discuss such topics in public. Therefore I didn't answer in the threads above just as Bill did. I also didn't spoke to Bill recently, because I want to let him do his thing just as he wants to do.

In the thread (second link), JoeyA said:
I called and spoke to Bill. Bill doesn't like to mix his public life with his private life on the Internet. It's probably the primary reason he hasn't responded to this thread. It's just something he doesn't do and if he did respond to the thread he would have to do what he doesn't like to do and that is put his private life out here for everyone to inspect, disect, prospect and speculate (those are MY words, not his). I respect his wishes.

That being said, the "dream cue" will be built and there is no current time table but he will be getting around to it as the tempest of his private life settles down.

No worries, mates. It's all good (and so is Bill Stroud). The DREAM CUE lives on.

JoeyA

Of course I certainly wish that my cue will be built no matter how long it will take. So Bill take your time and relax. Play pool and have fun. And maybe you get the time to make the cue

So I wish you all the best for your future.:)

Some of you may not know this, but, back in the 80's SMITHSONIAN MAGAZINE did an in depth article on Bill. It included not only his great cue making abilities, but, also about his life on the road playing pool. Sadly, I have lost my copy. :(
