Having bought and sold quite a few cues over the years I have seen JP hoarding happen and it really bothers me in certain instances.
First, let me clarify what it is I'm talking about.
Joint protectors that come with a cue. I *always* pass them on with the cues I sell, even if they're plain black delrin ones.
Recently, I was lucky to get back a high end cue that when I sold it just 6 months prior, it had a gorgeous 3 piece set of custom matched jpoint protectors. The guy I bought the cue from said they never came with the cue when he got it and a little detective work by me uncovered who 'held onto' them when he sold the cue. He is now looking to sell them for hundreds of dollars. Did I mention these were custom made for this exact cue? wtf!
I see it aometimes where a guy will sell a cue then 2 weeks later, the matching jp's go up for sale.
To me there is something wrong with this.
Obviously, guys are always looking to squeeze the last twenty bucks out of what they have.
Times are tough, I suppose.
Maybe these guys don't think adding the jp's to the cue deal nets them as much as selling them seperartely.
Am I all wet in how I'm thinking about this?
What do you guys think?
best,
brian kc
