Anyone ever compared the 2? I play with the sniper tips and Really like them.

At Kamui's website they list 14 shots and claim they cant be made w/o a Kamui tip (personally, aint buying that). But I know I dont have the stroke to get the kind of action this guy is gettin. I came really close replicating 3 of them however, with the sniper.
Personally I find the Snipers hard to beat but have never tried the Kamuis
The link to the shots is here....

I ran across that page a couple months ago some of those shots are crazy.. Number 4 looks simple until your try it..

I do not know the validity of their claim on Kamui tips. But I have one on my cue right now and love it! I do get alot of action on the cue ball. Anyway, I am certain you all have seen Corey Dueul's super stroke shot on you tube. Well, I got lucky last weekly tournament and pulled it off. My opponent nearly dropped his beer. So, i swear by them. I just put a bunch of snipers on some other shafts to try them out. nice hit just not the same. My fear is of getting used to them and then they go out of business or you can't get them it really is a crap shot with pool products.

I like them becuase they have less glue. The fewer layers the less glue used. The glue is what cuases miscues IMO.

I've never used a Sniper, but I did get a few of the Kamui tips from Ralf Souquet a couple of years ago. Like Kid Dynomite says, it will give you a lot of action on the cue ball.

Will you get the same action as the guy in all of those movies? I don't know about that. That's some crazy stuff right there. Though the shots are entertaining, I don't find those position patterns very useful, but they did look like fun (Translated:I couldn't do some of those shots either no matter what tip was on my cue).:p

I went back to a Triangle back in May. I'm not sure if Ralf is still using the Kamui, but I have heard that Francisco Bustamante was. They are worth trying out to see if you like them.

I used to be a Sniper fan (still am) until I put a kamui on about half a year ago, and I consider the two to be very similar in feel and play, and amount of juice you can get on the ball. The only reason I now favor the Kamui a little more over the Sniper is because Snipers are so damn hard to install. I do all my tips by hand, and I can put a Kamui on, shave it, shape it, and play in a tournament the same night without an afterthought. With a Sniper, I feel like I'm always at risk of not getting it right, and they take a couple of days to start feeling right.

I've tried both, and both are great tips. I've chose to use Kamui because it doesn't need much maintence, and I've not seen one mushrooming. But you wouldn't go wrong with either.

I agree w/ this 100%...except the install part, I don't do tips:o .

SATisfied with the play of both, But it is the Moori S that I feel gives the most 'confidant' hit on the CB. I have 2 shafts, one w/ moori S, the other with something harder- the Sniper has always met the need perfectly.

I use moori medium and I can do all of those shots except 7,8, and 11. and that's just because those shots are really difficult.

I'd bet Erman Bullard could do all of those shots with a house cue.

Which Kamui would be closest to a Moori medium? The Kamui Medium or the Medium Soft?

Kamui Medium-Soft will be closest to Moori medium. My favorite hardness.

I would not worry much about Tiger Products (maker of the Sniper Laminated Cue Tips) going anywhere.

We are celbrating our 10th Anniversay in Billiards this year (Tiger is about 20 years old) and we have been happy with Billiards and things are going strong.

Rest assured, if you get used to Sniper's, they will be around for quite some time.

The Install part on Snipers is not a major issue once you get the speed right and make sure to use a sharp blade. I had issues in the begining but I just gave Tiger a call and they walked me through it no problem. As for the stuff on the ball I feel that Snipers are low maint. and also grab the cue ball as good if not better then any tip out there. I did tend to notice that depending on where you buy them the price has recently started to creep up on them though.

Earl the Pearl told me the week that he started playing with the thin shaft OB 1 that the hard stroke shots like those on the Kamui website, similar to what he was practicing at Shannons tournament at Sporty's in Greenville could not be made with a layered tip. He said he had tried all of the layered and nothing works like a milk dud Elkmaster, can him and Efren both be wrong ? Thanks for the link to the shots there awesome for sure.

Leonard PS I like Medium pro Tallismans on a OB 1

I've had a sniper on my 314 for a while now (months) and not had to do any maintence on the tip other than scuffing, love that thing...

Shot 14 was pretty sporty considering it appeared he was at a slight angle yet jacked up and sucked it back into the other end corner pocket. Quick question. I don't get out to play much but i have moori m on all my shafts and was wondering how long a tip can be on a cue until you should think about getting it replaced. Or are they good for an infinite amount of time until A: It gets so low that you risk ferrule damage or B: It just feels different then what your used to. I guess I'm just wondering if you kept a tip on your cue for 3 or 4 years with limited use and then started playing regularly if the pigskin, leather, etc. would need to be replaced due to drying out or ??? When it's time for new tips I am definately considering the kamui. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

P.S. I'm in Arizona so factor in the dry climate:D
