Hey all,

I recently bought a Sly sneaky from Jmonche and it came with a Kamuii tip. Any of you guys use a Kamuii on your playing cue?

I really like the cue. It feels great in your hand and the workmanship is top notch but I absolutely hate the hit. At this point I'm attributing it to the Kamuii tip and I plan on changing it asap but I was just curious as to what everyone else thought of them.

Thanks.

If you want call me and we can elaborate on it. I only know alittle bit though, lol...

Numbers in the sig.

I have used the Kamui hard tip before and loved it. I know that you just got the cue. Perhaps you only hate it because you are not used to it yet. Give it a little time and if you still hate it - make the change.

I agree Kamui's are the nutz....

Leon's cues are the nutz...

I might be Nutz..

lol, Nutz.

WAY OFF TOPIC - BVal is that an APBT in your avatar?

I have used the kamui med soft and really liked it. right now I use the Kamui Black soft. So far it has been a really good tip also. Now that I have it down to where the height is what I want it has hardened up a little.

Yeah it is. He is a rescued bait dog. When I found him he was 14 lbs and in very bad shape. He is now a big ball of muscle :)

PM me and we can talk more. Pits are my favorite.

PS i think you're nutz LOL :D

Kamui tips have a great reputation, so it seems unlikely to me that the problem is the tip itself. My first thought is that the tip is not solidly attached to the ferrule. All it takes is just a small area on the underneath side of the tip not adhering to the ferrule to cause a funny sound when you strike the cue ball.

It isn't so much a funny sound as it feels like I'm hitting the cue ball with the ferrule itself rather than having a tip installed. In the ad Joe states that the tip is a Kamuii Black meduim but it feels way too hard to be a medium tip.

I know it's not just because I'm not used to it yet. I've owned dozens of cues both entry level and high end and I can tell pretty much right away if I like the hit or not. I haven't been playing for the past 5 years or so and the Kamuii has become available during the time I was away. I had a cue with a Black Widow tip on it in the past and the Kamuii reminds me a lot of that.

Another thing I've noticed that has become a trend since I've not been playing is that the butts of cues seem to be getting thinner. This may have something to do with the hit of this cue as well but I'm willing to bet it's mostly the tip.

I'll post up next week once I replace it.

Thanks for all the input guys!

Thanks for confirming that guys. I thought the tip seemed really hard.

The cue is way too well made to hit as bad as it does. And also considering the full splice and the materials, it should hit awsome.

I'll let you know how it turns out with the new tip.

The Kamui black medium is very hard, but the hit seems to get better and better (to me) the more it's used. For a layered tip I really like Kamui the best.

I have used a kamuii soft tip for about 7 months now, and will never play with anything else again!
