Newman Paul that is in my mind was a much better actor than Cruise is at this point in his career, I will never forget Newman in Cool Hand Luke, and everythime it is on TV I watch it.
I would not have called Keith a star of the movie either, but he was certainly a significant character.

LOL! Of course, that thought crossed my mind too!
I guess those movie folk never take a walk on the wild side and mingle with us pool folk. :grin-square:
Kelly...Of the professional pool players who either had a speaking role, or just were extras, Keith WAS the STAR! He had a focal role in the movie, and had the majority of lines, for actors who were not major players.

We just received a phone call tonight from the Screen Actors Guild. They have been searching for Keith McCready since 1987.
Keith is getting a check for his role as Grady Seasons in the movie, "The Color of Money," consisting of royalties since 1987.
Oh, man, it's a big number. Keith kept saying to the guy on the phone, "Are you sure this isn't a prank?" :grin-square:
I spoke to the man, got his contact information, and he seems legitimate. Keith joined the Screen Actors Guild when he got the role in the movie. They took his dues out of his payment for his role in the movie.
OMG, this will change Keith's life for the better. You have no idea. I know he's going to have to pay taxes on it, but, hey, he can take care of some health issues -- well, at least I hope that is what he is going to do with the cheese.
I'm not sure how royalties work, but I'm going to keep watching "The Color of Money."
I just had to share my joy. I'm so happy.![]()
I know Keith had the largest part of all of the pro players in the movie. The bolded portion above, and the quote from below (which is what prompted my post) have two different implications. Your post above I wouldn't debate.
"Have you even seen the movie Bruce? LMAO Grady had about four lines. Keith was one of the STARS of the movie!"
Kelly
edit: Bold and larger text for pinpoint emphasis, not raised voice.
He has a tiny role, very minor. He has a cool character though, and it's great to see him in the movie. To call someone a star of the movie.. they have to have much more then 4 lines, unless they're speech impaired in the movie, or kill a main character and then say 4 lines
However 4 lines is 4 lines, and over the years i'm sure its at the least some thousands , but I don't know too much about royalties for a 4 line part.. Might be like .000000000001% per viewing

Destukkt...Uh, Keith had a LOT more than 4 lines. I mentioned that Grady only had a few lines. Watch the movie, and see how much dialog Keith has. It's quite a bit.

I haven't watched in a while, but I don't think Keith had but maybe 7 or 8 lines; and a few of those lines were a couple of words.
Perhaps I am not remembering correctly, but I don't recall Keith having many lines of substance (ie., more than a few words).
Again, I could be mistaken, but I don't think so.

The main thing is he was a part of the movie & the movie will be around long after we are gone...His character was a significant part of the whole story line of the movie...Hope Keith gets paid well.
Keith did have more than 4 lines. Not many more than that, though. Let's not get ahead of ourselves and give him an oscar. He's a great pool player. Not an actor.
Look, I loved that movie, and I loved Keith's role in it! He played it pretty darn good for a non-actor!
Hell, I'm gonna even say he act's better than Tori Spelling. That's pretty strong!

Thanks, Houmatroy. I did start the thread out of joy, but I'm beginning to see that it may have an unpleasant effect on a pool forum. This is supposed to be a celebratory thread, not a demeaning thread about Keith.
I should have known better. LOL :grin-square:
Oh, well, in the words of Minnesota Fats, slightly altered for Keith's sake, "Boys, the only difference between me and everybody else is everybody else talks about The Color of Money, and Keith McCready was in the The Color of Money."
And nobody will ever be able to take that away from him.
