Keep Watching "The Color of Money"

"It's like a nightmare, isn't it? It just keeps getting worse and worse...."
Grady Seasons...The Color of Money

JAM,

Here's hoping that Keith has sweet dreams from this one that just keep getting better and better.....

Joe

We just received a phone call tonight from the Screen Actors Guild. They have been searching for Keith McCready since 1987.

Keith is getting a check for his role as Grady Seasons in the movie, "The Color of Money," consisting of royalties since 1987.

Oh, man, it's a big number. Keith kept saying to the guy on the phone, "Are you sure this isn't a prank?" :grin-square:

I spoke to the man, got his contact information, and he seems legitimate. Keith joined the Screen Actors Guild when he got the role in the movie. They took his dues out of his payment for his role in the movie.

OMG, this will change Keith's life for the better. You have no idea. I know he's going to have to pay taxes on it, but, hey, he can take care of some health issues -- well, at least I hope that is what he is going to do with the cheese.

I'm not sure how royalties work, but I'm going to keep watching "The Color of Money."

I just had to share my joy. I'm so happy. :)

Can I hold a couple million until payday?

I have the DVD and the VHS.

I have the DVD, the VHS, and the Soundtrack LOL

When I was young I shared a place with some friends and we didnt have cable or anything like that. I watched TCOM soooo many times I could quote the entire movie from the opening lines (cigarette by the chalk) to the end. Used to drive my friends nuts with quotes from the movie :sorry:

Jam, Im glad to hear the great news. Im not a big believer in everything happens for a reason. But I have to think this will do Keith more good now than if he had gotten smaller checks all those years. Something tells me he is in a better place in his life now and will be more able to make use of it. Im really happy for both of you.

Now they just need to make a new movie and give him a BIGGER role!!!

Its funny, I was watching one of his matches on youtube before I logged onto AZ and finally read this thread. I kept passing it up because thats the last movie that I need to have someone tell me to watch. I do it enough on my own

Congratulations on the windfall

to you both. Always nice to welcome back? another taxpayer to the fold.

JAM-are the residuals considered "wages" subject to withholding and payroll tax? or more of a "royalty" not subject to withholding?

Question-Does interest not accrue since these are 'unclaimed' monies held in trust much like a state would do for unclaimed property? And will there be 20 years of SAG dues in arrears to be netted against the gross?

Regardless-sounds like mighty good news.

How about AFTRA? Did Keith have to join that as well? Or is that just Radio and Theater productions?

Congratulations.

Wow 22 years of royalties being paid out at one time. That is awesome news for Keith.

I wonder if the SAG is thinking, "Well Dang, we found him. Now we gotta pay him. It's like a nightmare..."

Sorry, had to do it...

JAM...Just a bump back to the front page! Please let us know WHEN Keith gets his check (obviously the amount is none of our biz...but all of us will want to know he actually GOT paid!). Again...congrats to Keith! Sure hope we see more of him back on a pool table...in the near future!

Grady Mathews has been getting check for years. Don't think his part was a big as Keith but Grady was happy I am sure with the checks.

We're still on Cloud Nine, but now it's a waiting game for the SAG board to review Keith's paperwork.

The research associate who found Keith believes Keith is Keith, but he has to prove this to the SAG board. This may be difficult. Keith doesn't have a very extensive track record when it comes to documentation.

I am hopeful, though, that the SAG board will see Keith's passport picture, D.C. photo ID, tax papers from last year, et cetera, and realize that this is, in fact, the one and only Keith McCready. There ain't another one like him, though the world would be a better place if there were a few more Keiths in it.

I just think he's so cute. :love2:

I've got a GREAT, GREAT, GREAT story about this match-up which took place in California.

Let's see if you can recognize who Keith's playing here. Keith ran a package on him to advance to the winner's circle.

That's Harry "The Horse" McConnell. A damn good hustler by the way. Harry passed away about ten years ago.

Just have Keith play the SAG board a little 9-ball ring game. They'll know it's Keith fast enough. Johnnyt

Have you even seen the movie Bruce? LMAO Grady had about four lines. Keith was one of the STARS of the movie!

Yes Scott I even have a kopy of the Movie on VHS, Gradys part was small, but he is still getting paid for those four lines.

Curise and Newman were stars, the other were supporting actor, and extras.

Not to me....

Newman, Keith, and Whitaker were the stars to me and at the time I had no idea who played Grady Seasons. Cruise was just the lucky SOB who got the central role and actually "supported" those who made the movie worth watching.

Curise is many things, and a Very good Actor who sell ticket is one of them. Producers who put up the money for movies love Cruise, as he make them money.

Which decade? The couch jumper he is not the draw he used to be.

I would not have called Keith a star of the movie either, but he was certainly a significant character.
