Kerry Zeiler May 14, 2010

Very sad news indeed.Kerry definitely was a character.I got my second custom cue from him and he was always full of fire.He will be missed.

Good Lord what is it with cue makers passing well before their time? I recognized Mr.Zeiler and know his face but didnt kno the face with the name. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

My deepest condolences to his family & friends. My thoughts and prayers go out as well.

Joey I'm really sorry for your loss of your close friend and mentor. I always wanted to play with one of cues, but never had a chance to. This past year has been a bad one for losing great cue makers. I hope this is the end of it for awhile.

Hello AZB community-
Many of you were aware that Kerry was hospitalized late last year for a complicated list of ailments. It is with great sorry to write that at approximately 6:45 pm yesterday, Kerry passed away at Long Beach Memorial hospital, quietly and peacefully. I was at his side to see his final heartbeat on his EKG.

I've known Kerry since 1997 as a customer, a student, and as his dentist. One of the most important things I've learned from Kerry about this game was to end the inning on your own terms. I hope everyone reading this can do just that, weather it's one-pocket, or in daily life. I know he did.

Warmest Regards,
Kristian Tjon DDS

That is so sad. I didn't know Kerry personally, but he is known for making a great playing cue. For many years, Joey has said nothing but nice things about Kerry and the quality of his work. He will be missed.

Chris

Thank you for the kind words for Kerry.
I'd like to thank Dennis Yeo and Jhun ( Blowfish ) for the help they extended my friend in time of his need. Thanks guys.

Joey...Wow, this is sad news. I remember meeting Kerry, for the first time, at the L.A. Billiard Expo, in 2000. He made some really nice cues even back then. My condolences to the Zeiler family, and to you as well, my friend.
Safe travels to the P.I.!

Silver veneer: Kerry intended to make some plain cues with silver inlays but he never got a chance to implement it.

Thanks for the pix Chady.
Those pics bring some memory.
Your lovely wife was carrying your first born then.
One of your friends iirc got a very rare Verl Horn 4-point blank cue Kerry finished.

I was shocked when I saw this thread! I have not logged in here for the past few days and this piece of bad new are not a welcoming sight.

Dear Kerry, R.I.P

Snookered <=== still in a bit of shock

My condolences to Kerry's loved ones.

Chady, thank you for sharing the pics.

RIP Kerry, my condolences to his family.

He's a passionate cuemaker who only does cue for play and not collection, I still remember my call to him to discuss my cue. Its a pity he can't complete my cue...

Rest in Peace Kerry. I only met him once on a trip to California and he was very funny and passionate about his work. Another good guy taken too soon.

Kerry - you're missed! You worked hard to perfect your art, damn hard! I remember that lovable mug who loved to shoot pool and thought he could somehow learn to make a good cue, maybe even a better cue. I didn't believe you all those years ago and you proved me wrong. So wrong!

Thank God you got to see so many Zylr Cues being used by pool players all over. Just know that you have left your mark and your cues will always be coveted by knowledgeable pool players. You did good buddy. Damn good!

Thanks for the photos, I still can't believe all the stuff Kerry managed to fit into that garage. Shame you didn't get a photo of the reject cues he used to tie roses to in the little flower bed right outside the door.

My favorite thing I ever heard Kerry say there was, when I had the affront to innocently ask him why he only built plain-jane cues, he replied that "Points are just for vanity."

He never qualified this statement as to whether he meant he vanity of the buyer or of the cuemaker, so I guess it could be taken either way. :)
