Larry Nevel vs Johnny Archer

Good luck, Larry. Much respect for making an even game with a great player. It seems like very few people are willing to do that; make an even game knowing you're going to have to play great to win. I hope you play great.

Anyone planning to take any video of this event? I won't be able to get there, but I'd love to see it.

I believe Corvette was saying he would take Johnny getting 2:1. Only one bettor has offered odds on Nevel and I took that bet. If you want some action, I'll sweat it with you for $100 even.
ok you got it are you going ill be there.I have paypal to if you have it ill take the bet.

Me thinks people process information incorrectly.

I have seen:
Johnny - even (2 bettors)
Johnny - 2:1 (1 bettor)
Johnny - 5:1 (but only for $5)
Nevel - even (1 bettor, but no amount listed)
Nevel - Ktown woofing to get 3:1
I've lowered my line to 5 to 2 and I will bet sumthin.

Larry in his own room,on his tight table, while he is playing like King Kong?

I don't know who,if anyone,I would bet on in that situation besides Larry.

My money's too funny to lay anything though....just sayin'.

Maybe it leans away from Larry more if the race gets crazy long??Just thinkin'
Why would archer go to larry house and play him on the tables he playes on all the time????

Directed by Norman Jewison. With Danny DeVito, Gregory Peck, Penelope Ann Miller, and a special guest appearance by professional pool player Johnny Archer. :D

I'm betting on Archer on this one because I think Johnny will come prepared and because it is an ahead set that should go long enough to give Johnny time to get the feel for the equipment and eventually win more games.

Unless there is something VERY different about these tables it will not make a difference to JA. The fact that its in LN's home room will make no difference other than the local spectators will obviously cheer when LN wins a rack or plays a half decent shot. Still nothing that JA has not seen before. Also he will get some time on the table before the match to get adjusted to it if needed.
I saw JA get off a plane after traveling 6 hours go from the airport into a strange room and break and run 4 racks on a very tight table. All I am saying is take out the "it's LN's table" and just go with the players skill level. jmo

Several people have asked for more information on this match. It's now only 9 days away and you can read all about it here.

James,

I am still waiting for your confirmation on our $500 bet. I got Archer, you got Nevel, even up, no odds.

johnny as well as tony watson, shannon daulton, tony ellin, etc... considered greenville s.c. home away from home during the 90s when greenville was hands down the action spot in the u.s. with jerry banks and don stevens money in play. johnny is also from georgia and only a couple hours down the road, not much of a road trip so the home crowd won,t be that much of a factor.

I'm taking Johnny for $50? Any takers? Just a hunch. I may have the worst of it, but I'll give her a try.
