Last Question (I Hope)

I know I am driving you guys crazy with questions. I hope this is the last one. I have narrowed my choice down to either a 1930's 9' Brunswick Randolph or a 1950's 8' Brunswick Anniversary ( I cant find any good GC in my area). They both are priced around $2000. Are these good tables and if so which way should I go?

Thanks
Jimmy

Just got my 8' Anniversary, had it redone, new cloth 860HR, 4 7/8 pockets, love it plays great.
Also note that the 8' Anniversary's are 92" (IIRC)

Don't know much about the Randolph but I love Anniversaries. That said, I wouldn't buy any 8 footer if I had room for a 9'.

Depending upon condition I would certainly take the Anniversary hands downs. If you ever decide to sell it at a later date you will be able to get your money back so Long as it is good condition.

If you do buy it do get hasty about changing the rails, I have a 9ft made in 54 and the original rubber is still on it and it is as fast as any table I have ever seen.

Take Care

I have not yet read any other posts of yours, so I know nothing about your background.

What are your objectives with pool?

Will you be playing outside your home as well? What size tables will be used on those occasions?

Do you have any aspirations to become a competitive player on 9-foot tables? Or will the table just be for casual entertainment with friends and family?

Do you have plenty of space for a 9-foot table?

The right table mechanic can make just about any table play well given enough time and the right materials (cloth, cushions, etc.). But which table is right for you depends to a considerable degree on what your plans are for the use of the table and for the development of your game.

What area are you in...sorry if I missed it elsewhere.

If you are domestic, AZB can find you a Gold Crown. Money back guarantee on previous statement:sorry:!

we can get you any table you want, as long as you have italian blood.

that said, i would go with the Anniversary over the Randolph any day of the week. in fact, i would go with a good quality Anni over a Gold Crown as well.

Randolph

Personally, I would go for the Randolph, depending on the condition of the inlays (if present). Lots of times the veneer is peeling off, which can be expensive to repair. The Anniversary is a good table, too, but I am more of a classic kind of guy, and don't like the corners on that model, though they are more durable.

There are a few more things to consider before your purchase, from a pool table mechanics' standpoint. Feel free to contact Everything Billiards, NC to discuss more. I'd leave my contact info on here, but it won't let me because I have yet to post 5 times. . .

egads - i just noticed that the anniversary is an 8footer...ouch.

IMO go 9ft if at all possible, you'll thank yourself later.

Last Question

I probably will not play league pool due to the cigarette smoke. I will use the table for myself and friends. I am going to look at both tables Monday and I found and 1997 GC in the same area and I will look at it as well. The asking price for the GC is $2900 but that includes delivery. The pockets have been double shimmed. I think the price is good. I asked about the Anniversary in Atlanta but I have not gotten a response. I hope to have a table by this time next week. Thanks again for all the advice

My wife is from Brooklyn NY and is full Italian so does that count. She has been living with a redneck southerner for about 13 years but she still has the accent.
