I agree with Dean, Bill etc...

They know what they are talking about.

Forgive my amateur observations. I have come back to look at this cue several times since it was posted. I wanted to soak it in and not just spontaneously post. This one required some contemplation.

The veneer work is beautiful. The wood is beautiful. The ring work is beautiful.

But there is something else.

It is the balance of proportions and use of space that is striking. Many of the traditional visual reference points are missing, so the mind is left to create a sense of orientation. The ring in the middle of the handle area gives a reference point, a division of space. It's like a properly placed pinstripe done by a master. Such a stripe, if slightly higher or lower, or following a different contour, would make it look like a different car. The eye is drawn to that ring. It begs for the cue to be picked up. It suggests in some ethereal way how the cue might feel, how it might balance. It speaks.

One might have thought to do a full segmented handle on this cue. That would have destroyed the effect. It would never be able to achieve what it has if those handle visual reference points were there.

The windows in the butt sleeve area also demonstrate a balance of proportions and use of space that indicate an awareness in the design process. Again it is a feature that draws the eye, but does not distract from the ring. Because of the proportion it gives a visual flare to the butt like a curve in a female silhouette. Damn near makes me emotional.

Cues are designed, constructed, engineered, assembled. And cue makers are experts in such matters. Sometimes they embellish the visual appeal of a cue with inlays. Such inlays can be quite elaborate and can achieve incredible levels of detail.

What you did here in this cue was so much more than that, with so much less. And I do not mean to diminish the amount of work in such a cue at all.

As I said, it is the use of space and balance of proportions .

This is art. You are an artist.

IMHO Dean was right. We are witnessing the birth of a legend.
