League players should be so proud...

I only read a few post because I do not have as much time for AZ but I will say this, we all love pool. I am not a league player but leagues do contribute to rooms and the game even if some of snub our nose at them.

7 ft tables

the league players were im from are killing pool.. Not only will they not go to a pool room and learn a thing about the game. If you start a team out of the pool room when they have to come play there they cry because the tables are to big. They are not even in tune with the game enough to know how great the conditions are that they are getting to play on FOR FREE...So now two of the rooms are going to start taking out 9fters and putting in 7fters, Great... Way to go league players, and to be crystal about it, APA league players, the others dont really mind they are just to few in numbers to matter...

Good bye pool room you will be missed....

Too few in numbers, you hit the nail on the head. Those few you are talking about don't pay the bills. Imagine a business actually trying to make money by giving their best customers what they want. Sounds like you are lucky enough to have a room owner with some sense. Have fun

Criminals and convicts in leagues.......really????

Granted, I'll admit almost every league I've played in has had at least one convict or a few folks with some prison tats, but there is always at least one convict in every pool room :D

Most leagues are filled with good people......even in APA, most are just hard working folk out to have a good time.....

Convicts, really????? Now, I will have to say that I usually have someone trying to rob me, but it's not at gunpoint - they just want me to gamble as a 80% loser, LOL

League players

Why am I not surprised that they were APA league players! Slop pool at its finest!:smile::smile::D:D:D

proud league player

I've met all types of people in league play and by that I mean playing ability, occupations, oh yeah, and the occassional scumbag (not counting myself of course). I happen to play in an APA league where we play on 9ftrs and that's what I prefer. No doubt the APA leagues are the "base" income for the room. Having the leagues helps keep the place open. They added some 7 ftrs for APA tournaments, but I've noticed that the walk-in customers that stop by for a night out or maybe a couple on a date, prefer the smaller tables - because they can make balls. After all, isn't the game more fun when it isn't a struggle and you're not intimidated? I know I can't hit a 90 mph fastball, but I can crush a softball. I don't play from the back tees, but I enjoy a round of golf from the white tees where my measley drive actually makes it to the fairway. Plain and simple, the business has to cater to the consumer that keeps the place in business. The league players are the ones that are doing that in a lot of places.

NON league playing pool players are killing the rooms!!!!

Spend money. Buy food and drinks. Fill the tables.

Until you do these things it's all your fault!!!

that's not really true. non league players don't just go in on their league nights. everyone i know that plays goes to the pool room 3-4 times a week easy

I play in a local 8-ball league, and anybody that is so ignorant to believe that all league players suck, come play me a race to 5 for 100. BB or 9ft, doesn't matter. 8-ball, 9-ball, 10-ball, 14.1, rotation, one-pocket, banks, game doesn't matter. Bring your elitist attitude, and your money. We'll see if you are as elite as you think you are.

Where do you live?

Christ!

Geometry, do you still have your sheet & rope? what an insane outlook on life...

The league I play in has senior executives from Fortune 500 companies (including me!), real estate developers, general contractors, attorney's, small business owners wives of the aforementioned and yes, a few punks... that's life.

Go join a convent.

the league i played in had mostly blue collar guys/girls playing in it. there were a few white collar bubbas in it but they couldn't play a lick

The OP's opinion is pretty ignorant, but still, it is his opinion!! In my opinion, all these leagues defintely contribute to pool one way or another. I know a bunch of APA players that run racks out here in Montana.

You got to be in Great Falls at the Eight Ball In. John (owner) told me Great Falls has more league player per capita then any other town in the US of A. Maybe I'll be seeing you this winter:):)

Hmmmm

REPLY ChicagoRJ - Really, someone was convicted of murder. Well, does he shop, does he work out at the gym, does he work, does he run in the park. There you go, people who jog are freakin criminals. People who shop at Walmart must be criminals because I"m sure this guy has to buy paper towels too !! Dude, you don't have any facts.....

Posted by Geometry: And I also know for a fact that any time I see League players play that more often than not they are stoned or on some illegal mind altering substance, drunk, or constantly going outside huddled up in the rain so that they can breath cancerous filth into their lungs like the pathetic addicts they are. FOR A FACT!

REPLY: ChicagoRJ - I'm mean really, are you playing pool at the local meth dealers house or what ?? Now drinking is another (and quite legal matter), though I"m not a drinker but most of my teammates like to have a few beers during league, but again, the doors would not be open very long if a BAR,,, yes a BAR, doesn't sell any liquor. It might be a pool room, but the revenue is from the liquor... So what's the problem. And again, maybe get a few facts straight, take your left hand off the bible as you stammer at the keyboards....

PS: Who mentioned convicts being good at pool from playing in prison. OK, former cop here. I don't know of a prison, detention center or anything else that has a pool table. Think about it. A long 58" piece of wood (really, they are going to give convicts weapons) and balls that are rock solid and could kill a man if struck in the head by a good throw. I don't think so. Maybe CLUB FED, where the politicians go and the other non-violent con artists convticed by the federal gov't. ... but here in ILLINOS, there are no pool tables in prison. Plus, I want to hear the outrage from citizens that our taxes are buying pool tables for rapists and other thugs..... DON"T THINK SO.....
