Not sure which one to buy. Any review or comparison for these two lights?

The LED Light is nice & bright, but it has no sides to bar the light from your eyes, when you are not at the table playing. I don't care for the Diamond Light either, unless you modify the light to be brighter. The louver keeps the light on the table, so this light doesn't interfere with your ambient light.

I think that particular LED light doesn't get the ends very well. Maybe two separate sections would work better.

I agree with the importance of reducing glare. The Diamond has the advantage there.

I put a $50 LED in my garage and love it. I wonder if something could be added to the side to shutter the light to cover the table and prevent the glare that would look nice. Its not hot so well cut construction paper or cardboard construction might work and it wouldn't weigh much.

If I do an LED I'll probably do two of them run up/down the table so I can mount them higher than normal (my playing group includes a couple of real cue-swingers who use lots of body english :D)

However, note that cameras don't adjust to light conditions as well as your eyes do; a picture always looks center-hot compared to what your eyes really see. If we were at the table we'd probably say it was evenly lit.

It would be easy to make a glare-blocker for that LED light with 1/16" or 3/32" plastic.

My Diamond light is the older light. It is physically 4 X 8 foot.

It sits above my Gold Crown.

I think if you can find one of these bigger older lights, it is the best out there.

this is just a comparison of a

2x4 led panel light @70watt
or
4x 8ft fluorescent bulbs(or 8 4ft bulbs)

In pics, it doesn't look like the 2x4 LED provides enough coverage for a 9ft table, but i've seen a quite a few testimonials stating it is enough lighting.

I have the Brunswick light to go with my Gold Crown. It is 9' long just like the table, it has 8 48" tubes in it with a deflector. I cant imagine there is a light out there that will do a better job lighting a pool table. Not sure where you are located but there is an AZB member in the Chicago area that has some Brunswick lights for sale.

My opinion is that pictures and even video are absolutely worthless to show how well pool table lights work.

The only way is to see them in person.

I have never seen the LED in person so I can't comment.

I did buy those eBay LED string kits and stuck a bunch on my ceiling. They did not work well enough at all. I'm certain the 2x4 panels are way brighter, however, from the good reviews they have had here.

Here is an ebay line for qty (2) 2 x 4 LED panels, 75 W, 6000K, free shipping, for $180.

Does anyone know what to look for in these panels for pool table purposes? Is 75 W for this size the bright ones? I also found 50 W in this same size, but nothing higher (just in 5 min of looking, not extensive looking).

I'd try one of these in my existing Brunswick home style fixture (not the Brunswick GC fixture). I just want to get the right one.

Thanks.

The majority of 2x4 led fixtures are around 75w 6000lumens(amount of light ouput). All the 2x4 specs are around that. That looks like a great price. Some of the reviews off amazon, buyers would receive LED fixtures faulty.

I PM'd a guy that purchased the light above in the OP. He has a 9ft table.
No issues with the light. I love it. I used the mounting hardware they sent with the light and it make it super easy to hang and adjust the height. I have no issued with shadows.

I hung mine about 53" above the felt. It lights my room great.

I just bought this one. I'm taking a chance, but figure at $180 shipped for 2, I can't go wrong. I'll let you guys know how it goes when I get it.

I contacted the seller, he could not ship me only 1, because they are pre-packed from the factory two in a box. I don't know if I'll use one or both...

I don't know if I will need a transformer or anything else. I'll see when it arrives what it needs for wiring.

Why not combine the casing and diffuser of a diamond style light with a led panel. Best of both worlds. Come to think of it, I'm a be a bit surprised it hasn't been done before.

My buddy is the biggest LED light distributor in 10 states around me he had a couple of these in his office they are amazing if you got any questions what to look for because I know there's a bunch of different quality Leds lookup advanced LEDs Evansville Indiana his name is Jack is very knowledgeable

A customer of mine is the largest manufacturer of LED's. Not the fixtures, but the LED's themselves. Due to some interesting advances in oven technology (LED crystals are grown at very high temperatures) you can expect LED prices to drop significantly in the near future. When, I don't know. He also said that LED's come with a 10 year warranty because they don't really know how long they will actually last. They seem near indestructible and could last much longer.

I also found it interesting that most LED sales are going to Japan. In rebuilding after the tsunami, Japan is switching over much of their lighting to LED technology.

FYI

They make LED t8 lights that can replace the fluorescent t8 lights in a Diamond light

I've played on a table with the LED tubes and a Diamond light and the light was really good

Sure two 2x4 panel led fixtures(in a diamond/brunwick light) will light up the 9ft table great. It was also done in one of the older threads.

Question is how will one 2x4 fixture do on a 9ft table? I agree that its one of those things you have to see and play with in person.

Pool table lighting

a Light is better than no light. I did have a 4 foot light over my 9 foot table, but I also had plenty of ambient light.
