no disrespect for mataya ,but in his best against keiths best, jimmy would of needed some good amount of weight.but yes it would be 1 helluva funny match to watch!

Back when me and Jimmy were out on the pool tour, we had some very close matches, a lot of them going 11-10, 11-9, 11-10, et cetera. Jimmy probably figures to beat me playing the straight pool. Jimmy plays pretty decent one-pocket. I might be a little bit the favorite in 10-ball. But I haven't been playing, and I'm sure Jimmy hasn't been either.

I know he would gear up to play me, though, because we have had some gambling battles in the past, and there wasn't that big of a spot involved. Jimmy Mataya did win an All Around tournament. I can't remember the dates, but he beat every great player in the early '70s that you could imagine. So don't take Pretty Boy Floyd short, and don't think that he can't play. He has a way of rising to the occasion for that dough.

I'm sure that Jimmy and I will definitely have some fun with this when it happens. It's not about who wins and who loses. It's what you call entertainment, something the pool world could use a little more of.

I have a problem with NITS. What does it matter to you where it is? You won't watch it and you won't go to it. We know this already. What does that say about you? That we already know what your actions will be before it happens? We know because there is a little money involved and if it ain't free you don't want it.

Mark IMHO you asked a question, I gave you my answer. Then you attacked me with name calling. I do not understand why you find it you have to call anyone names. JMHO.

thanks for sitting me straight keith, did not no he played that speed, tom vanover told me years ago he would play him even,so i was going by that .tu

Keith and Floyd would be my pick easily. I have seen johnny and Earl play more times than I can count but I can count on one hand the times I have seen Floyd play on one hand. Keith used to live near me so I have had the pleasure of seeing and playing him but it has been a while since he has been in action.

Keith is surely the favorite if they match up. The match may not be a nailbiter but just the conversation alone would be worth the price of the PPV.

I think that this match up is going to be alot closer than anyone may think. I am going to be doing the scoring a little different. It will be as follows

You get a point for every rack you win so if keith beats Jimmy in 9-Ball 17 to 10 then Keith gets 7 points for the overall score. The same goes for 8-Ball and 1 pct, the straight pool will be one point of every 10 points and its a race to 150. The numbers will be rounded up at the end to the closes 10. This means there is a total of 15 points that will be available going into the final set which will be 14.1.
This will make it very unlikley to have a tie. I think this is a good way to do it unless any of you can see a potential problem.

I loved when Archer played Strickland in a big IPT match and Johnny said to Earl "When it's my turn at the table you just sit there and shut up! The only way you can win is to shark somebody."

There is a little bad blood in this match. I am not going to go into it but I think its somewhat common knowlege that they don't get along anymore. I think that adds to the match.

Speaking of a 5x10 snooker table converted into a pool table, there is one located at Tuckers Billiards in Charleston SC. Very nice pool room that's a big action spot around there and it's open 24 hours for action. Eldridge Tucker used to own the place and I'm sure Earl and possibly the others know of him. Now that he's passed his son owns the place. For the longest time he didn't charge for table time, drinks, snacks and only took donations. Charleston SC is a great place to visit and there is definitely some great golf courses around there. If you are looking for a spot to play on a 5x10 I could think of no better place.
